Some news from up north
we were at poolamacca yesterday, and nundooka today. for those interested, the sth africans in the g-wagen blew their second clutch on sunday night (2 in one day, wonder if thats a record) and are waiting for another one to be sent from adelaide (i think). anthony kilner in the big block gq wagon also did his clutch, and is back in town replacing it. from memory that was the only breakdowns at poolamacca. the spectating there was ordinary, as such there is only 3 pics from there attached. the competitors did a nav run in the morning, then the quick winch stage early afternoon, then another 3 hour nav stage in the evening. they didnt finish that untill about 10pm, then ducked into packsaddle for fuel, then to nundooka for a 2.5hr night stage. most got to bed about 3am.
ian paltridge in the supercharged 6.0 v8 gu patrol (best sounding car ever) hit a rock in the night stage and put a hole in his stump the size of a dinner plate. the truck is being flat towed back to broken hill, and his event is over. the boys in the pgs suzi rejoined the group today, after their rollover in the water at the prologue, they have replaced every relay in the car, and think it's ok. they also destroyed their phones and ipod (although the phone was in the washing machine). krimnl & huddy were quickest on the first morning winch stage, with pete mihalof 2nd. krimnl has blown his turbo, and the car is burning lots of oil (note the white smoke in the pic). car 46 broke a tie rod, think they've replaced it now. pete and jane in car 14 - white gq wagon (looks like the family truck) drove the lower winch wall today, and are the only car to do so as yet.
Thanks to Stu and John for this up date
There is also some photos on arbcapalaba.com.au web site and look for the outback up date
Cheers Dale

Latest news........
Damage Report
- Ian Paltridge has retired. Tore a swivel hub off, repaired that and then punched a hole in the sump. Has a spare sump but is concerned motor ran for too long on low oil.
- Jonnie Stavrou returning to BH with no front drive.
- Al McMullen has power steering box issues believed to be a bad leak.
- Wormy and Clay have parts coming tonight to make repairs after damaging a radius arm.
- Wormy fitting a new brake shaft to the Venezuelans(sp?) high mount tonight.
- Big Al Reynolds vehicle spotted a little worse for wear after his nasty roll over at the mud nav stage. Not surprisingly resembles the shape of a 6 point internal roll cage.
Good News
- Max and Cosmo are going well.
- Muppets, Max & Al Mac did well on the sandwall. No mention of Todd & Ivan so not sure how they went.
- Greeny and Huddy won a stage at the rocks within their group even without a working turbo.
Should be heaps more updates from others as teams transport through BH to compete together tomorrow.

When we completed the arvo nav mud stage at Viewmont in 06 all I wanted was something to wash down the horrible Darling River mud and Pete & Jane came through with a cold can of coke from the fridge in the "family wagon". A can of coke never tasted so good

JANE NAVI'S FOR ME ALSO AND SHE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT AN AMAZING PERSON AND GIVES HER ALL IN SO MANY WAYS (SO DOES PETE OF COURSE got to say this in case he reads this, ha ha) THEY DEFINATELY HAVE GENUINE SPORTSMANSHIP. MIND YOU I MUST SAY THAT THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I LOVE THIS SPORT, OTHER THAN THE OBVIOUS ADRENALIN RUSH. 4WDRIVERS SEEM TO BE WILLING TO ASSIST NO MATTER THE TIME OR EFFORT INVOLVED.
