All,

Appologies for the delay in responding, but with holidays and painting............!

Anyway, the initial mark for the project was very good. 5/5 in one area and 6/7 in the second area. These were overall marks and we wont find out the detailed marks for another month or so :?

On the badge making front, my mate finally got back to me with a price of $25 per word. This includes material (10mm Ali) and machining.

Let me know by PM if you are interested in getting badges made up.

Again, thanks for all the positive comments (although you always get one DH !).

Over the comming months we will be pulling the leaf's out, cleaning and reseting them, to try give a bit more flex and comfort.
The sump gasket needs replacing and Hailey is pestering me for a drawer system !!!!!
By then Hailey should be just about ready to drive the thing !

cheers

Appologies all. My mistake, the price was per letter NOT per word.

this is the sort of build up that 4WD Action should be covering. but only if they go through the detail of it and not just a 2 page spread of the finished result.
You have done a brilliant job of the zook and of the write up. this sort of stuff in the mag might get me to renew my subscription.

Good work.

If it went in a mag it would be Overlander. I used to do some writing for them about a year or so ago, so I would contact them again.

I have thought about it, but just at the minute, im flat out at work and home.

Ill keep you all posted though when I get around to it !

*pop* ;)

As per Cookie Monster's post, he used to write for them so it's logical that he would go with them... it would make an awesome article mate,
maybe get your daughter to write it from her point of view. It would be fantastic to get more articles in *any*
magazine about how women are getting stuck into their own buildups.

Followed this thread eagerly when it was first started, but I've been away from the forums for a few months. Awesome to see how things progressed while i was away. Congrats to you both, absolutelly fantastic stuff, especially the way you've documented everything here, step by step!

Every time i re-read this thread I get some new ideas for my own zook. Now that it's getting into summer weather, I may even actually get off ma rear and go do some work on the truck

That badge idea for the front was especially cool btw. I see that a lot of guys in this thread were keen, but the price put them off a bit. If there were enough people on the forums interested in a single design, like 'ZOOK', and we put in a bulk order for, say, a dozen plates, do you think your mate could do a cheaper price? Might get some more interest then ^_^

All,

Thanks for the requests for an update, so hear it is :

Hailey is now learning to drive in the zook and doing very well. She has about 2 months to go until she can get her P's.

The zook has had a few further enhancements, so that Hailey could take it off road for the first time.

UHF & FM radio aerial's mounted onto window hinges.
Image

UHF Radio
Image

Hand Throttle from an old Pajero.
Image

Got some rear seats from a forum member, had the seems restitched and Hailey gave them a good clean.
Image

Got a new soft top for the winter.
Image

This one day trip went very well and Hailey did an excelent job of driving on the day.
She drove every track and didnt let the 4" lifted, locked and 35" tyred Patrol(trip leaders car) out of her sights. I was very impressed with her driving and calmness :D

I only drove the zook on one track and ended up bending the drag link !

The only shot I got of Hailey !

We still have a few jobs to do on the zook, as Im sick of the oil leak it has had from being bought. Ive put a new sump gasket on it, but that didnt help. I think it may be the front crank oil seal, so I will be pulling the radiator out and having a look behind the front engine cover. If it is the crank seal, then ill replace the timing belt while im at it.

The other major problem though is that the little 1.3 seams down on power and high on fuel consumption.

I will start a new thread for that one though !

So all in all, everything is going well(apart from the engine :x ) and I was very impressed with the zook off road. I can see why people get hooked on them !

cheers
