The only thing from Mooney's car is the tray itself, Mooney's car has been sold to Scott Bevan (Dynamic 4x4).

Heard from Shayne this morning, him and Al finished up 15th overall, but missed a few stages. I beileve the Jeep and Huddy's car are spending an extended holiday in Broken Hill. Both cars were driven up from Melbourne.
Bringing you regular updates at Outback Challenge this year!!!

Can't wait till competitors and the spectators start posting some pics. When will the final results be posted?

Spoke to some of the competitors this morning and some had quite nights after the big event so kept the celebrations low key. If like me always tired at the end. The only comment they made was that coming into BH was different to other years as no one around - somewhat an anticlimac.

Well a number of the competitors are also entered into the Cliffhanger so they will be able to get their highs in six weeks again.

One SA car is on the Dyno as we speak at Marks workshop in Thomsptown in Melbourne - 350 at the rear wheels with 35.

Cheers

Drove back to Gold Coast Sat and Sunday and flew back to Melb today. Great to be home with family, the toilet, the shower and the real bed...

Paul and Sharyn had a win this year. The new format wrked a treat. The weather and road closures were not a problem and we were all together. We saw a lot of Paul as a marshal as well as regular driver briefs and that was a treat.

A great thing was after last stage Paul called up 1 car at a time to discuss scores, stage results, outside assistance. If you had a beef then speak now or forever hold your piece. So cool! If there is controversy then the person pointing the finger is a fool. Well done.

The field had thinned right down by the last stage and even those still running were barely hanging in there. Such as Dave Cameron on 3 tyres, no brakes and couldn't re-start the engine. Jeff Redman finished on just 2 tyres. Greg Scanlon on 5 cylinders and no diff locks. Max lost a panhard and had no brakes. Huddy broke his chassis clean off at the steering box.
Lots more stories like these and a credit to each team and the mateship between teams to keep each car going. All for 1 and 1 for all.

We missed the Nundooka stages. Not as much winching this year - I'm happy with that. We only pulled the winch rope out 3 times.

Pop and I were delighted with the Lux. 2 x punctures and that was about the extent of carnage for us. Oh yeh - Pop jumped the lux a bit harder than usual and we bent the front diff (straightened just prior to OBC) but it's back to normal bent diff with -ve camber. With the smallest engine in the comp (4ltr lexus) we lacked the ponies but made up with light weight and plenty of noise. Well done to Sean at SEQLD 4x4 for building a great rig. No DNF's, no penalties - happy with that!

Pro Comp extreme Muddies worked a treat. Drove a lot of the mud and they were just 35's. Averaged about 10 psi per stage. 4 psi on sandwall with 5 point nav. We took it steady in that nav section given the low pressure but our aim was to get up that bloody sand wall fast .. and we did.

I was very pleased to be a part of a very successful OBC. Paul and Sharyn agreed we should get together soon and plan next year with Cliffhanger and Outback Challenge working closer together.

And last but not least - It was an honour and a pleasure to have a ride with Lawrie sternbeck (Pop). He was great fun and he is a fabulous driver.

Just got time to read the OBC posts. Thanks Hobzee for the kind words and the great job you did with the GPS and the 3 winches we did went to plan and happened very quickly. Would also like to thank everyone on Outer Limits who offered us support while competing in OBC. Greg and Liam didn't make any mistakes, did a great job and deserved the win. I was just so excited to make a podium finish in the Lux. POP.

After a great week of fun and plenty of late nights keeping things going thanks to all those who helped keep me going. Thanks also to my Navi Andrew for his first time effort in the passenger seat.

Wazza at Flamin' Favrications stuck up a tube vid at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDiyip2_ ... annel_page which was great to see. If anyone got some pics or video footage I'd love to find out about it.

Cheers

HOBZEE WROTE

"I was very pleased to be a part of a very successful OBC. Paul and Sharyn agreed we should get together soon and plan next year with Cliffhanger and Outback Challenge working closer together. "

This is a positive move for all who enjoy the sport. Having competed in both events (and plan to do so next year) it would be a great move for the event organisers to work together so both events move forward.

As competitors, although we pay our fee we get so much out of the both events we should continue to support both groups.

Well done to Paul, Sharyn, and Hobzee.

Was in ARB Bendigo this morning and the boys were telling me that they dropped a injecter (probably melting the piston in the process) and they wrung the absolute death out of the engine for the remainder of the event to win.
They are receiving a brand new 4.5 turbo engine to replace the now very second-hand 4.2.

Surprisingly there was hardly even a mark on the truck, considering what it looked like after previous OBC's.

It was a very impressive performance considering how the engine was running. Sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders at times.

What really impressed me though was the bonnet strut!!
