So once you've done an axle in an ARB locker, then you're up for a new diff carrier and can't drive home anyway?

unlikely. of the full floating toyota axles I've seen fail, shear off neatly at the drive flange, right at the outer end, so pulling it out is a doddle. regardless, it's a full floater, you can pull the whole third member out and still drive home. the semi floaters tend to break at the end of the spline or through the spline, but they don't tend to immediately take out the bearing with them; the spline is supported in the side gear, which is supported in the end of the hemisphere, which is supported in the bearing, the axle gives up long before there is enough stress to deform the bearing let alone the outer bearing support. regardless, it's a semi floater, you're not driving very far with a broken axle before the wheel falls off unless you have a spare axle with you, all set up with a brake and bearing on it to install.
so they say that they are using a stock axle and if you look at 2:10 you can see that the axle is bolted to the test rig as it would be if it was fitted to the hub and it still brakes near the bearing mount. then look at 2:13 you can see the splinter that has come off the side of the axle and jammed between the axle and the bearing mount and if was not for the brass collar would have destroyed the mount and bearing . if you need more proof after lots of hammering they give up trying to get the axle out and pull the locker apart to prove there is no damage . then press out the axle . as for pulling out the third member so it can be driven how are you going to do that if you can not get the axle out . if you do get it out then how is this different to what you need to do if the china one brakes so you can drive it . in saying all this i have front and rear arb lockers in my nissan but a also take a spare locker and axle with me when we go to comps and the parts for the locker are very cheaply priced so for me it's arb thanks
I still don't see your point. full floater axles will break at the drive flange = just keep driving. semi floater axles, no matter where they break = you're stopped. front axles will almost always break at the CV or locking hub/drive plate. the crownwheel and pinion gears are the next weakest link in most applications, and will give up before the axles. in "real life" the failure will not occur as it does in the video, the torque is not applied in that manner in a vehicle application.

i agree that the torque is not applied like that in real world . so the test is a waste of time. nearly all the broken arb lockers i have seen it has been the bearing mount smashed from the axle blowing apart i have seen one were teeth have broken off side gears. i have seen a tjm locker brake like the china one did but this was after 3 years of comp work which is not bad in anyone's book

OK I'm not convinced either way and I have read this entire thread.

I have just started a group buy on what i could see was the best quality-inspected and past standards with warranty, Chinese air locker I Could find.

So rather than bag any1 out maybe wait for real results.

I have spoke to the company directly who make them and they tell me they are to the same standard as an ARB.

Now I'm sure If they are not then we will soon see.

In the meantime we can have fun trying to break them

Deleted?? That's a bit nasty!!

Deleted from 4wd Action Forum I'd believe, and I believe 4WDTV wouldn't return your calls. But deleted from outers?

How come mods??

I'm guessing it's a combination of:

a) Advertising should only be posted in the classifieds section, using the Template.
b) Multiple cross-posting is as bad as spam.
c) It's likely to start a sh!t-fight.

Like the multiple threads created since deletion?

Thin ice I'd say leary. You'd be better pre-arranging it with the mods, then post it in 1 section, not all.

why are you not allowed to post in multiple sections. I don't recall reading in terms and conditions stating this please explain

Advertising is done in the classified section, period.

If you want to organise a group buy for a specific make and model, then you can do it within a certain section (eg. Nissan, toyota).

Putting threads up for heaps of brands and models, through all forum sub-categories as well as in the classifieds section is just stupid. What did you expect?

PS. Did you use the proper template for the thread you made in the classifieds section??
RUFF wrote:Most users are following the Classifieds section Rules but there are a select few that just dont get it. From now on if you do not follow the rules your posts will be removed. ALL OF THEM. You can only advertise once in any given Classifieds section. If you advertise twice then both of your posts will be removed. And i will endevour to remove every preceding post for the next week or so. This is not Ebay. Do not place links to an ebay add in your listing.

THE RULES ARE SIMPLE IF YOU CANT FOLLOW THEM THEN DONT ADVERTISE HERE!

posting the same crap in every section of the forum is the next best thing to spam, especially when your trying to sell something.

Dont be suprised when all your posts on this group buy thing is deleted.

I must admit i didn't use the template but an item that is related to multiple models how else would you do a group buy.

I don't understand who this is upsetting

mite be crap to you k31st but it has generated alot of interest.

Seeing as i am not making any profit off this i can hardly see how you say I'm advertising. i'm maintaining every thread that i post in and replying to all post's

i would like to see if this product is ever goin to go ahead and bring down the price of our gold plated arb gear

Or if people in the trade will try keep this hidden so they can benifit from it. and leave consumers with no other option

Advertise using the template, and advertise in one section. People will PM you showing interest, you keep tabs using the PM system. It just means there wont be a running thread on the buy.
leary393 wrote:I don't understand who this is upsetting
It upsets the other 95% of forum users that follow the rules. Rules have been put in place for a reason, we must abide by them to continue using the forum.

If people dont follow the rules, the forum becomes a dumping/spam ground, which none of the OL members want.

Easy.

I'll give you todays hot tip (pre bus ride). Take it on the chin, maybe apologise to the mods, and bow out gracefully. Thats what i'd do.

Didnt mean your product was crap, just spam posting in every section. Our search option works like a snail on here because people ask the same questions that have been asked a billion times before, spaming, and talking crap about goats and cats (hahaha).

Seriously though, as coxy said, before you get the bus stop posting and start PMing. Not trying to slag you, only help you.

PS If your writing about something your selling, you ARE ADVERTISING IT

Some rules which may apply...
#1- This is a private forum and membership is at the absolute discretion of the Forum Owner / Administrator. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/pr ... rofile&u=4

#3- Freedom of speech is a fallacy.

#6- If you are moderated and you wish to discuss it, PM the moderators or the administrator http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/pr ... rofile&u=4 . Do not start a thread in Chit Chat having a cry about it.

#9- Forum Owner / Administrator reserves the right to modify forum rules as and when deemed necessary. Such rules will be binding for all members.

#12- Spamming of any kind will not be tolerated. If it is deamed your posts are spam your Membership WILL be cancelled.

#14- All decisions made by the Forum Administrator are Final.

DOn't get me wrong though, I have no issue as long as you are really making no profit. But posting 6 threads on the same thing is basically spam.

Your pissing me off. Your posts were removed as it was clearly Spam. You decided to post it all again when clearly there was an issue. Post it anywhere again and you will be banned.

Read rule #1,3,6,9,12 and 14 before you question this decision.

Not quite sure what you are saying? The ARBs have been tested - by over 1000 competitors using them in winch comp trucks, tuff trucks, rock crawling buggies, outback challenge...and that's only Australia.

The Chinese version got tested too. Please refer to page 1 of this dog's breakfast of an arguement.

Those with some intelligence know these will not be of the same standard as an ARB, but Leary is offering a cheaper version which is promoted to him as premium offering from China.

To bitch that these are not as good as an ARB is just being childish. They are not, but they are also well under half the price and like all Chinese products you get what you pay for and there is a huge market that these are applicable for.

If you don't want a Chinese Locker there are plenty of other threads on Outers that you can bitch in, for those that are interested in a Chinese locker contact Leary.

I pity the next stupid bastard that tries to help us all out with a group-by offer.
