Just use a catch on the tunnel to lock the lever forward in the unlocked position. That would do it easy.
It does have detents and they are firmish, but the lever position will kind of default to locked, especially with lots of vibration and if it's sitting with the nose high.
Mine still works a treat. I've had it apart once earlier this year and gave it a clean, but it's 99% transparent on road.
My slot for the lever is a little short and after lots of highway km's the lever moves back a little and touches the tunnel, making a little but if noise. It would take 5 minutes to fix but I keep forgetting.
