Yeah, i think mine was a 94 model. Either way you can probably tell it left me with a bad taste in my mouth in regards to LR's. I also know of people who have had no trouble with them. Guess thats why we called mine "The Lemon"!

While in the LR club it seemed to be a running joke about the oil leaks in LR's. Others didn't seem to worry about it. There were also a few with the S2 disco's without the centre diff lock and i will confirm they were hopeless without it. I think you can get one retro fitted though.

Hey, if you like them, buy one. It was a very nice car to drive and a hell of a lot easier to punt through the bush than a Patrol due to its size. I was dissappointed with the power of the V8 though, especially considering how much juice it chewed through.

As i said, just my two cents. Hope it helps make the decision a little clearer.

so the 99 model had the better engine, well less electrics that could go wrong and shorter rear over hang?I imagine rear room was a little bit smaller but with a slightly better clearance at the rear. Do you guy;s think this would be the better model to get. I t will also be cheaper to purchase compared to the later 99-2000 models with the rear lights up on the side of the doors and larger rear end?
I have been enjoying reading everyone's remarks, appreciate it. If I do get my disco and get to ride with you guy's the first 20 drinks are on me!!!!

The "series 2" was introduced in 1998. Lots of changes....

- Larger rear overhang.
- Non Rover bolt patterns.
- Less flexible suspension.
- Semi floating axles.
- Lots of electronic shat.
- TD5 engine.

just one thing, when i read about all the rovers that have got maxi-drive axles, what does that exactly mean? yeah I'm just proving how green I am to all this. Is that a full replacement of the axles? Whats the cost ffor something like that?
Should I stay away from disco's with K's in the 200 plus? Is there alot to service when they get around that vintage of km's?
