they did a brake test with my 35s on ... and it it passed ...
actually when i hit the brake it spat me off the rollers hahaha

with the way QLD transport farks everyone around with saying one thing and enforcing another, its easier to just drive round unplated till ya get pinged

Since this is in the techy section I'll add this
Dept of Transport Qld pamphlet wrote:When lowering or raising a vehicle body (front or rear):
• the suspension travel in the bump or rebound mode must
not be altered by more than one-third of that specified
by the manufacturer;
• coil springs are to remain in locating seats on full
suspension droop without forcibly being removed.
In addition, the normal relationship between the front
and rear suspension heights must not be unduly affected.
Suspension coil springs must not be shortened by cutting.
Leaf spring suspensions must not be raised by the use of
extended shackles or adjustable metal plates. If lowering
blocks are used, they must be either steel or aluminium.
So lowering blocks must be steel or aluminium. Doesn't mention lift blocks. However perhaps this is where the info came from.
Also you can alter the bump stop distance but only by one third of original spec which isn't much. Doesn't say anything about not being able to lengthen your bump stops so a lifted vehicles bump distance is unaltered though.

qld has required steel or alu blocks for a lopng time
the adr's were recently changed to allow lights on the roof
previously (last year) they were illegal in qld.
many ADR's were relaxed in the last 6 months. Most of them dont apply to 4wd specific things tho, other than the lights.

To do it all legally you are supposed to contact Qld Transport first, to obtain "approval in principle" for the proposed change. When you get your "permit to proceed" (or whatever they call it) they supply a sheet which includes the bit about steel or aluminium blocks. They have also issued a fact sheet to "Approved Persons" because they were receiving so many inquiries.
Once you have completed the body lift you then need to go back to Qld Transport (not an "Approved Person") to have the body lift (and the rest of the vehicle) inspected, and a certificate issued. There is no mod plate.
All this was probably said last year (in this thread - didn't wade thru it all again) and there was a post somewhere on OL within the last week or so, suggesting Qld Transport have changed their minds, and now want plastic blocks.
Call them and ask?

i have been told nylon is illegal because its too soft. i have polyethalene in mine, and its ok and passed the QT inspection (except for the 10 other defects... ).
so what i know:
NO nylon;
steel OK;
polyethalene OK too.

Goddamn now I'm confused!!!!!!
I've got a 50mm body lift and I used HDPE (high density polyethylene). Based on the alloy or steel only thing, I've always assumed this was illegal, and when I got caught, I'd change 'em to alloy.
But now delux says nylon is illegal but polyethylene isn't!!!! Mind you, I'm pretty damn sure that HDPE is as strong alloy as I've put mine through hell, and and all the blocks are fine.
As for getting it approved, as much as I'd love to go and get it done, based on the myriad of previous posts on the topic, I know I'll get done for the 35's, 4" spring lift and the seats.
As much as I realise that I should do this stuff, I can't see it in my horoscope!!!

im with you bb mav i took mine in to the department of trans to get my engine conversion checked you know they have to check engine no's a chick came out and said oh this looks pretty high you will have to tell me the engine no's as i don't want to climb up your tyre
If this is the same when i get a body lift approved i will do it but as people have said here they inspect the whole vehicle then i will wait
anyway all you get is a piece of paper saying its approved if you get pulled over and don't have a piece of paper then they have to ring around the head office or something as they don't keep it in their computer this is what i got told and 35's whats the deal with them being aproved?

Yeah - Sorry guys, mine are HDPE blocks, and they cop a flogging too, been airborn a couple of times without worry...
I have seats and roll cage modified, if i then get questioned I can say what I was told by QT had to be done is done, the rest is fine - as they say...

What if you just use lager body mounts not a body lift
ie one peice that is the body mount
In this case steel or alloy would have an adverse effect of NVH and this is why manufactures use rubber
And yes larger body mount kits are available check out the daystar kits from the US for example
NFI if this makes them legal or not just throwing the idea out there for discussion
