Your right, at the end of the day, if you have to turn the car into a hilux to run the 308, then why not just start with a hilux and save all the work and have some wheelbase and room in the cab?monkeyplex wrote:

People seem to think that if 20% more power is good, then surely 200%more power must be better?
More power brings with it more speed, and sierras are about the worst possible car to try and drive at speed, even when well built. That thing in the ebay ad would have to be lethal.
Cars that don't have lots of traction (like a sierra which is light and runs relatively small tyres) don't need a lot of power because it just turns into wheelspin unless the car is in a tall gear, which means it is moving really quick- you can only use as much power as you have traction.
Ironically, a sierra with a well built 4AGZE (which IS a relevant swap) would probably make more power, but without all the weight and driveline issues.
