do you happen to have a part number as the guys over hear in WA dont have a clue about this $120 notcher all they keep comming up with is a $450 one

A good trick I have used to help make really neat holes, is to remove the drill bit from the arbor and repace it with a piece of rod the same diameter as the origional drill and then pre drill a pilot hole the same size as the rod.
The drill in the arbor elongates the hole and makes the hole a bit ragged,
the rod eliminates any movement in the hole saw and the holes are dead round, and if you use an cutting compound appropriate to the material you are cutting, (Trefolex is fairly universal) the hole is very smooth.
Try it you won't beleave the diference.

Tefolex is very good for this BUT it is casinogentic ( shit spelling but it will kill you ) as in when it gets hot the gass that is omited can and will harm you. We have had to remove it from our factory and now use some other crap :([/quote]

Where I used to work we had trefolex and got rid of it for that reason (carcinogenic) but that was at LEAST eight years ago.
I thought they brought a new version of it out that was okay.
No suing me if you use it and get cancer though.

So you guys are just using a hole saw in a drill at slow speeds to make the holes the same diameter as the larger pipe or pipes you are using .Are you only cutting half a hole or do you start in from the end of the pipe to be cut and cut the whole diameter of the hole

You need to cut at least half a hole as the pilot bit of the hole saw needs some material to drill into. At least by drilling a full hole, the holesaw tends to cut evenly each side which makes it a little easier to handle.

The best brand of hole saw to buy is the "Blue-mol" (blue colour) ones but they arn't cheap, a 25mm one will set you back about $25 + another $20 for the center drill bit thing.
I was going to buy the electrician set of 5 holesaws, but for $190 i think i will keep borrowing them from work mates.

Wooders we use a hole saw for all our stuff at the moment and you really have to buy a decent one if you havn't already.

Hare and forbes print out the picture I posted and take it with you as they will try as sell you a $400 one cause they will telll you they don't know what you are talking about.
Make sure you keep the shaft well oiled other wise the bush will where quite quickly.
