are you sure? i just went out and had a look at mine and its got a body lift in it and the bumpers are attached tothe chassis

Yep, I have body lifted about a dozen sierras. The only bolt attaching the bumper to the chassis is the big screw above the numberplate. The bumper hangs on two brackets one on each side of the taillights. These brackets are attached to the tub.

my bad
had a closer look and it seems to be atached to both.
the bloke who lifted it only atached one bolt either side instead of 2
