Why would DOT allow these to be registered? Kinda unnecessary on the roads. Don't get me wrong, a brilliant truck but why can these be registered?
Why such low kms when they are obviously extremely old?
ADR's state that any vehicle over 30 years old does not have to be converted.
As for why are they allowed to be registered??? Why not? I would be interested to hear your reasoning behind why you think they are unnecessary on the road? Its a 4WD Truck..why is that unnecessary?
The low KM well we dont know how they have such low KM, but we have all the service records etc from the Swiss Military and its all ligit. They do have hundreds of these vehicles and it seems that when they are discharged from service, they get rid of a few Low Km trucks and some Hi Km trucks..so you get a mix of both. Mind you Hi KM may mean 50000km.
The Swiss 404's are known as the best ex-service trucks in the mog world, and there are rumours around that this last batch will be the last of the really nice low Km trucks to be released.

Yup..We are trying to find an old (1984 from memory) 300TD Merc for a donor engine. We have already got the clutch (from a G-wagen), bell housing and all the other bits for the conversion on order.
This was the first shipment lol Coming soon is another container from the US with a Pinzgauer in it, and on the water right now is a 416 Doka and another 404. Both of these containers are also chocka block frull of parts, tyres and bits and pieces..

Very impressive, so this is how the other half lives hey.
What size tyres does Sam run on his mog rover?
Are you going to set it up to do front digs etc?
If you get as much flex as the one in the picture you would be doing good enough for me.
I can't wait to see what you do with them.
Shane.

.
Shouldn't be too hard to find. A sedan would do - wouldn't have to be a wagon.
The 617 doesn't mind a rev - mine's seen 4600rpm quite a bit so it should work with the gearing of the mog quite well I think.
Steve.

4WD Stuff - We will be running it pretty stock. The only real changes will be hydro assist steering, maybe different shocks and springs, the rear will be bobbed and it will have an exo.
Tyres choice has not been made yet, but we will have a few different sets ranging from 39's to 42's.
We are not thinking about how well we will do, but would just like to compete, finish and drive home. Considering most people will have more $$ in their daily driver 4wd than we will have in the mog, we will be happy with that.
Steve - they are not to hard to find, but to find one with a good motor means they get a bit pricey, esp. considering we only want the engine..so we will keep our eyes open and one will turn up for the right price.

Long story and not really for public broadcasting. It was a combination of things, nothing really to do with TT.
