UMM ok i was wrong bout the 22mm wall thickness its about 12mm wall thickness (measured it properlly) ill just blame the bottle of bundy i had that arvo

i was going to to use an extinguser botte still got it but cant get a hold of a fitting for the end. so i got one form opp lock for 50bucks its about 1 litre maybe bigger and has 4 1/8 holes drilled in to it 2 two at each end . i also have a truck tank but it to big untill i get my body lift. and a truck air compressor it runs of oil from the engine
HZJ73, lifted,crawler gears, double locked, sitting on 35's

SHORTY40 we already know this but thanks for spelling it out.... once again i think he was tryin to get the point across that this CO2 fire extinguisher bottle can hold alot of pressure and wood make a great air tank

ok i am currently runnin an ARB compressor.... and after gettin some advice from a bloke in-the-know (thanks ruff) i was plannin on runnin one of those BUSH RANGER COMPRESSORS that have been advertised in 4WD MONTHLY quite abit..... what do you recon brian?

ok i have managed to track down a second CO2 bottle (same as the other one) and yes its free....... it waitin for me back in townsville so i shood be able to run air tools of it now

I agree. you need endless, or a big Clisby, or one of those American jobs with the winch motor/air cond compressor setup to get enough CFM, no matter how big your tank is.

the other alternative for running air tools is obviously the CO2 tank with a regulator.

I can not imagine going offroad without one now.

Hey Jake,
Mate do you guys have a compressor sales/service shop around you. They are the ones to go to. Look in the yellow pages.
Run the best quality hose you can afford especially from the outlet of the compressor as it can get hot. I just run a contact style pressure switch in the engine bay. They are excactly the same as most 240 v compressors run. You only need air in and out.
I run a line back from the tank after a one way valve to the switch so when the tank gets to 120 or so it stops pumping.
Run a water seperator back neer the tank as far away from the compressor as possible as this way you will catch the most moisture. I run my pressure gauge off the pressure switch under the bonnet. I see no real need to have a pressure guage in the cab. Run a filter from the inlet on a small length of hose so you can zip tie it out of the way. (you can get all this stuff from a compressor mob_)
If you want it switchable from inside the cab(i would recomend this) you can either use your original A/C on switch or run a push button style switch with a light. (this is how i have mine. lets me know for sure when the system is on) Get an auto sparky who does air con to de gas your system then once every now and then put about a teaspoon of mineral oil down the inlet. I have never run a return line for the oil as I don't have an oil seperator and it is too easy to just top her up every second trip or so.
Make sure your tank has a drain rooster even with a water seperator.
It is a good idea to take the truck and the bits you have to the shop and you can visualize what you need and check while you are there.

Yep I once pumped up mine and two other cars 35" tyres (4 each!) from around 18 to 30 psi in the time it took an arb to pump about one tyre. I use an arb pump for the only thing it is good for LOCKERS!
The more revs ya give the motor the faster they pump.
I normally idle mine up with the hand throttle to about 1000 1500 rpm and it rocks

no, fatass is talking about aircon compressor, as this is run by fan belt so higher engine speed higher output. arb is 12volt compressor, it therefore uses 12volts to run dc motor to drive air pump, faster engine will do squat.
After what Brian just said, onboard endless air sounds tempting
but if you have air con now, and doesnt work like jake , and me , why not convert to something useful. anyway, thats what window winders are for. should cost less than endless air too
