So you've never stood by yelling "DRIVE IT". Don't be a hypocrit, peer pressure or encouragement, what's the difference. Get 10 or more ppl watching on yelling "drive it, give it some", whether good natured encouragement or not it's peer pressure.

During the discussion it was clear that those already IN the club were ok with the term. Everyone agreed that 'Alternate track' would be used to encourage each driver (new ones in particular) to feel free about making the best choice for their vehicle/state of mind or whatever. It hasn't been an issue to anyone and the club still gets new members. I think sometimes we forget what it's like to be the 'new kid on the block'.

nothing wrong with peer group pressure, leads to the best drives of the trip... and the ones who dont fall to group pressure get pissed off and look like idiots for getting so narky about it

seriously peer pressure is bullshit if someone doesn't want to wreck there car then you should respect and leave them be, i have left trips because of people giving me a hard time i don't need that stuff when i am trying to have a good time.

I thought it was okay to apply peer pressure to others, but weak to give into it :)

So in other words, yelling, "jump! jump! jump!" is a way of testing whether your mates are pissweak or not, AND getting good footage for youtube.

ive taken the "chicken track" before. sometimes the harder option isnt worth the risk.
the GU is my DD so if i stack it im stuffed.
the funny thing is, the people who usually have a go at me for taking the "chicken track" have 4bys that are worth a fraction of what mine is worth :finger:
and then they bitch and complain on the drive home when they get cold and wet because they drive a POS that none of the panels line up properly
il happily drive the hard stuff if someone else is going to pay for the damage if something goes wrong.
i wonder why none of them have put their hand up yet :?

I kinda gently disagree, but it does depend a lot on the group. In our club, we try and run encouraging and supportive trips, but sometimes people need to stretch themselves a bit to either get the best out of their car or take their driving to the next level. Without some good natured encouragement, they would be unlikely to try the harder line and so their skills might not improve.

However, I do respect what people have in their cars $$$ wise so it is important to give relevant advice not just act like the peanut gallery. sometimes though, even for a newbie in a stocker, the best advice is "just drive it"
The pride you see in an inexperienced member when they drive the obstacle rather than the cheat track is cool.

Amongst the guys with bigger cars though, I will give it a lot of "just drive it" because that's when the big moves come out - the lines that didn't look possible.

However, this is in a club environment - and we all have repsect for each other because that's what makes clubs work. I;m not gong to hang it on another member or hurl abuse because I view other members as mates. It's one of the reasons that loose groups tha come together through a board or via a couple of groups of mates who don't know each other etc don't work as well as club trips.

peer presure in a reasuring encouragment kind of way is good for people, how else do you learn or extend your and your vehicles capabilities. Aso if your peers are there encouraging you then at least that means the noob has not gon out on thier own to get stuck.

however people with no regard for other peopl's safety or vehicle, well that is another thing, i personally couldnt give two shits if i damage my 4wd, if i do its word as a badge of honour, however i respect that not all people have that mentality, or people may have a lot more $$ tied up in their car or have to drive it to work on monday, if they want to take the easy way then thats their call (however there imght be a bit of light hearted jeering along the way)

all in all, i think chicken track is a great term, if you have a problem with it, as said earlier take up knitting. and as long as everyone has respect for everyone elses descisions and provides encouragment and assistance, not ball busting preassure then all is good..

there are a couple of guys i dont particularly enjoy wheeling with because of their, "you go first, stop being a pussy" attitude but thankfully their vehicles are usually broken so i dont have that problem too often (redneck not you mate:))

you need to challenge yourself to improve and to get the rush we all crave out there, but it needs to be a descision based made by yourself not by other people for you!

Xeleventybillion. I believe that making bypasses by charging through the bush the one of the reasons that tracks get closed.

If the track is too hard for you, go and find another one. Making new bypasses is uncool. Trailbikes are also perpetuate this problem by trying to ride around bogholes. It's Melbourne, it's winter. Your're going to get muddy.

I think its the intentions of the people that matter, you know who they are so you should know to trust their experience/or not ;)

If I have a good spotter that I trust I will usually try to drive whatever they say (one of the things I liked about the Zuk club was that I trusted the guys I was on a trip with to not wreck my DD)

No harm in taking the chicken track if all you are going to do is rip up the main track and rip up your truck at the same time.

If you think you can do it have a couple of goes .. If/when it becomes obvious your not gonna make it put it in reverse and go around and stop holding everyone up.

if i take the "chicken track" it is simply because i am Chicken , be it scared of scratching it (and facing the missus) or scared of rolling it etc , its called the chicken track for that reason , if you take it for one reason or another you are scared of something . its simply a track that proves your scared of something .

i go out of my way to heckle people i go driving with if they dont attempt an obsticle , note i said attempt , wether thay make it or not is not relevent , as much as seeing them give it a go , you don't have to wreck your dd whilst attempting things , drive sensibly and have a spotter and see how far you can go , without hurting your car . most of us drive things we never thought we'd drive simply because we gave it a go with helpful company and surprised ourselves and became more confident drivers .

I think there is a difference between pressured and encouraged. If someone says they don't want to drive it then I don't think they should be pressured. If they are unsure then I see no problem with a bit of encouragement. I think you just need to use your people skills to read the situation. At the end of the day the main thing is that everyone enjoys themselves, whether that be because they drove something that they didn't think they could or happily drove the easy line to the top before walking back down to watch other people drive the hard lines.
