Firstly, let me introduce myself.
My name is Sean Gannon. I am an engineer, and have been building turbocharged street/race cars for about 12 years now. I have been a Toyota fan since I could drive, and currently have a 1972 Toyota Crown which has run a best ¼ mile of 10.23@140.5 mph. What has this got to do with you blokes that own 4x4’s you ask?
Simple, in my search over the years for a motor to power my race car, the engine that has proved to be the best performer for me is the mighty 1FZ-FE from the 80 and 100 series landcruiser.

To date I have extracted over 900hp from one, and I am currently putting together a full-house, methanol burning example that I expect will deliver over 1300hp and have the ability to push the car well into the 8 second zone in a full weight car (not a tube frame dragster)
Obviously, as I’ve been diddling about with the 1FZ-FE motor for quite a while now, I’ve had cause to search out bits and pieces for them, and have also found the Nissan stuff at the same time.
(With relatively simple internal mods and suitable turbo/management, 1000++ reliable hp is available from the TB48 and 1FZ, whilst it is also easy to set them up to deliver 500hp all day long with almost no internal mods, and power available from under 2000rpm)
As a result, I’m considering pulling it all together and becoming a source for such parts for others here in Australia and Just thought I’d try to gauge some interest in performance parts for the 1FZ-FE, Nissan TB42, TB45 and DOHC TB48(awesome, awesome engine)
So, to explain, I can now source/have made up the following stuff for-
Toyota 1FZ-FE (includes parts for both 80 series and 100 series cruisers), but also for Nissan Patrol TB42, TB45 and DOHC TB48
Available parts
H-beam conrods (rated to 1200++hp)
Lightweight Aluminium conrods for drag engines
steel crankshafts (not 1-off units, these are off the shelf units)
Stroker kits for 1FZ and TB48
Cast turbo manifolds
Forged pistons (any desired compression available)
Copper head gaskets with integral o-rings and silicone bead seals to eliminate coolant leaks (no machining of block or head required)
Head studs
Camshafts (stages 1-5 available)
Adjustable cam wheels for 1FZ
(and the list is growing daily)
This is not really an advert-At this stage I’m just trying to get a handle on demand to see if it’s worth my while, so if you are interested, or if you know of someone in the 4wd/off road racing community that may be interested, let me know so I can work out what will be popular.
(feel free to email me directly also guys)
Cheers
