Hi everyone again.

Thanks for all the input everyone made, but its not looking a suitable option. Havn't ruled it out completely yet though.

Just for those who may have been following with interest:
The plan we had started to follow was to fit a B series motor to a landcruiser 5 speed, then mate this to the Hilux transfer. The idea was to save us from an unwanted axle swap, and the hilux low range is better standard also.

I was working with a H55f gearbox, problem is that their shafts dont match to the Hilux 21 spline transfer straight up. Cost for a double ended sleeved and splined adapter was $600!!! (custom of course) and then still needed an adapter plate for mating the cases. Also the H55f is arranged in a top shift like configuration, whilst the G52 (standard lux) has a linkaged rear shifter; resulting in a too far forward gearstick.

Then started looking at using a R151f gearbox, with the B series motor and the mathing transfer from the surf. Too many unknowns in this option, and I've shelved it for now (B series bellhousing fit R151?, availability of R151 with surf transfer already fitted?, etc).

Even started looking at Auto transmissions, Patrol gearbox and transfer, Isuzu gbox transfer, the list goes on. It just started getting silly at this point, and I've put the idea on ice for now at least.

Looking at about 4 other engine options at the moment, so we're not short on ideas.

Thanks again to everyone, its been an intersting past week or so of intense research, if we revert back to continue with this idea, will post up an advances we make.

Cheers.

would it not be easier to b series to a440f auto and 80 series transfer to keep it without adapters.

80 series double offset transfer, Hilux is not. Don't want double angled tauilshafts, and not swapping axles. Don't know much about a440f autos...
