does anyone know the exact weight saving of plasma V Wire??
100ft 3/8 inc hook from my Ironman - 13.5KG
100ft 5/16 plasma with safety thimble - about 2.5kg

10KG doesn't sound that much, but try it under tension over a 50ft length, it all changes.
thanks for figures, I didnt think it was 20kgs! ;)
Im more interested in static weight, for daily driver, which I think zook driver was talkin bout too. not while its out.

100ft is the standard length on most winches. This is a fair bit. You can often fit 125ft by going to a smaller line size, BUT the outer wraps have less pull.

On my 9500 I am using 5/16 100ft and have a seperate 100ft 3/8 extension. The 5/16 is rated at 13700lb and the 3/8 at 19600lb. That means I can use a block (pulley) on the extension - 2 x 9500 = 19000lb. Nice flexible solution that doesn't fill the drum.

Steel 5/16 - 9600lb
Steel 3/8 - 14400lb

That's for galvanised 7x19 as per http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavist ... index.html

how ever i am thinking of putting it off till say jan 14, but i dont know if our dollar will be this strong which is what is making this deal so damn sweet

the rating is 19000lb and you should easily fit 100' of 3/8"

I just brought a highmount back from the us in my suitcase. I pulld the cable off and left it there along with the fairlead. At least 15kg of cable.

I bought 125' of 3/8th line from OKoffroad for just under $400 AUD last week. They were cheaper than winchline by about $40 US.

Shoulda done it when the dollar was stronger but oh well.
