Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Not a huge power difference between the 1300 an 1600 on paper put the seat of the pants is alot more and it feels like it has more torque to hold up hills etc definatley something a miss with yours my stock 1600 was a big improvement over the 1300 and weber.

going to get her checked out this week was on the free way in 5th could just hold 110 slight increase in road like i mean slight would drop to 90-100 easy and thats with me have the pedal to the floor the whole time i dont think thats right

You have something wrong with your motor. The 1.6 should pull 31's at the speed limit without a whimper and be able to accelerate.
As for the power increase between a 1.3 and a 1.6 carb motor .. 47 to 55Kw is a pretty sizeable increase in real terms 8Kw is pretty good.
The allround driveability of the 1.6 is so much nicer.

could it be my exhaust?? it spits allot of water i got the cat changed not long ago also

im really getting the shits whit her petrol wise she is ok 65L got me 450kms i dont think that is that bad but still

was your replacement cat a cheapy, if thats the only thing you have changed then maybe remove it and take it down the hwy to see if there is a difference in power.

I reckon even a cheap cat will flow 55Kw of exhaust.

compared to what i had on 80-90% was blocked whan i took it off couldint see through it its got a bit smaller to what was on it but she felt allot better as soon as is was changed

my mate thinks they hammer how much harder to fit instead of a 1.6 baleno?? if i was going to change

He's getting old and Whiskas gives him gas.

Fix the 1.6 that's already in it. It's a good, proven setup and is the cheapest option.

the 1.8 GTX motor is a J series motor not a G series, so it's the same as fitting a 2.0 Vitara 4 Cylinder. It can be done, but it's not a bolt in, that's for sure. In any case, you'd never fit the 1.8 instead of the 2.0.

If you can't find and fix the problem with the engine you have now you will never have the patience finish an engine conversion.

i get you steve this engine is just getting on nerves everytime i drive it but ye i guess cheapest to fix what i got

because 20 is better than 1.6 or 1.8

What carb do you have? When I had the wrong e tubes in the weber it spat alot of oily condensation out the exhaust.
If your not competnent get someone to check over your motor the 1600 isnt a powerhouse but it shouldnt be dissapointing you.

So have you sorted out the problem with your engine or not? did you have it checked out?
