They run 80 series dx c/v's and you can retro 80 6 stud brakes, the t/d has 4.1 and the 1hz has 4.3 centres, they are 60 odd mm a side shorter in axle and housing. Id hate to have to buy an axle by itself....all else other than steering arm length is identical.
If you leave it 5 stud, you keep the 10mm axle studs, and a pair of 100 series callipers have larger pistons in the callipers....so a bulletproof setup if you buy a set of diffs front and back, and run 100 rims and brakes.

That are both as strong as a tub of margarine. Prob made with the same material. Toyota changed the material they make their C+Ps with when they went to the 100 series and i imagine the 79 as well. I have never broken a High pinion centre as easy as i have broken the 4.1 and 4.3 late model centres. And no these were not fitted to a heavy 100.

here's a question, if i was to shorten the long side of an 80 series housing, and then use a 79 series long side axle, How wide would the diff end up being.

Might be a lot cheaper this way
