Was your engine running? The battery voltage is way low?

yeah the engine was running and it was ideling high coz of the automatic choke

the battery is verry small its a N.R.M.A battery

The voltage hopefully will pick up a bit when the engines revved (?)

You could always try quickly wiring one headlight globe directly to the battery and then compare the brightness to the other to one see if it makes any noticeable difference. I'd do that first so you don't waste a lot of time doing a rewire only to find stuff all difference. Just be carefull you don't short anything (wack a 20A fuse in just to be safe while you're experimenting).

i think the wiring is ok just a shit battery

is it normal for a 12 volt battery to give a reading of 11.5

my battery shows 11.5 volt at all time even when i give it a bit of revs

sounds like yr alternator is shagged

u should have up around 13.5 or 14 volts at the battery terminals when the motor is given a lil bit of revs... size of the battery shouldnt really matter here as while ever its conected and the engine is running it should have the above mentioned V's.. although if the battery is shagged they will fall away quickly once u drop the revs or kill the engine.. 2 things to look at here.. regulator?? got external or internal?? 2ndly alternator.. then come back to us with what yr findings are..

Isn't that the place thats sell the HID conversion kits?

There's a bit more involved that just changing the globes, and I imagine the $$$$ would be very high to do it?

Fark guys.. HID kit for your headlights, wouldnt it be cheaper just to buy a set of driving lights =Þ

Ok.. with the phillips range it goes: (from top to bottom in range)

1. Crystal Vision
2. Blue Vision
3. Vision +50

MJ.. sounds like your friend needs to focus their headlights, its amazing the difference you can get without having to change globes just by focusing!

Find a dark straight road, put a towel over one light and focus the other, swap over, and then focus with both of them going. Probably pick a point say 50 - 75 metres ahead of your for regular low beam.
