x2, Well said and a BIG congrats to you guys!...
I agree with what you said wilba. It's a shame when someone develops a groulse product after putting in countless hours and thought/Know how, not to mention dollars spent in trial and error, testing, manufacturing, etc.

Sadly though it's a reality that someone will rip off the idea and mass produce it. It may as well be you and your mates who profit from it. Get the idea patented and start developing it as you are on an absolute winner there.

There's a massive market there and heaps of money to be made from it. It goes way beyond competition too. There's thousands of lowmounts of there on everything from beasts to tourers to toorak tractors. It's a global market too. And with so many cheap lowmounts around this adaption would be very affordable and appealing to the average joe.

I'm not trying to steal your idea, i want to buy one off you once you start producing them. Before the Chinese start selling em on ebay.

keep up the good work!!!
You are so right about all of this and anyone who does invent something, has spent hours and hours if not days or years working something out, until they get it right and finally make it available for others.

I found it's very easy to patent in Australia, but to patent for other countries is very expensive. We're still looking into it...

yup, what I was sayin earlier.. yup, thats what I was sayin about hurry up and paitent it

even if it costs bux to do it world wide, think of how many countries have members on this board and how many winches are out there.

The only downer I can see is that not everyone will want one, but if you can crack the US market....

Waz, have been talking to russ as you have and your winch is at the top of the list. Was just having a dig at some sneaky buggers who would sell thair mother to have one before the next comp.Anyone who wants one by good manners should talk to russ he`s a top bloke and he won`t bul#* you. Thanks again to the folks who are interested in the work and arn`t afraid to talk to the people who did the trial ane error.

Just one question.
Why would you not use one large electric motor (if avail.), even if you had to adapt it, rather that a multitude of motor's?

I have done a bit of testing and found that the rotor speed in the 4-6kw motors to be the best when compared to the next larger frame size 7-9kw. ~10hp series wound is very rare!! and generally quite expensive!! and harder to replace.

Part of the game is to try to use parts that are avalible and simple. 6hp motors are easy to find and when you ask alot of a winch or anything for that matter you get the down side of less performance.I fully expect my motors to die prematurly.Keep in mind this winch will not be for eveyone for normal recoverys it`s at the least quite harsh.

I have been running twin 7.8hp 24v motors with one of Wazza's adapters, and while it is a very strong and reliable option it isn't as fast as a 6hp with 24v. So I now have both 6hp and 7.8hp motors and can choose which ones to use depending on weather and track conditions. ie alot of hard winching will see the 7.8's.
To make the 7.8's an extremely good option would require a gear change. They run at the same speed as a 6hp 12v ie 10,000rpm but obviously the 6hp gets a lot more speed onve 24v is put through it.
I'd be very interested to see what has been done to the low mount as if the gearing has been changed then changing it again to suit a low speed but much more reliable option 'shouldn't' be too much more work!!!!!!!! MAYBE! :?

Interesting like the sound of that the 7.8`s are a straight bolt up are they?I haven`t run across them yet. They should have the same effect on my set up too. how are they for size ect.

Hi Billy,

Yes 7.8's fit straight up and you're able to use your existing adapter.
I had to make a slightly different internal coupling to suit the 7.8. ( No big deal ) and a few minor mods.

Hay Wazza,

Could you make an adaptor so that the motors ran one on top of the other?

So the secret work that was taking place over christmas, have been keeping an eye on the superior website as suggested and nothing.

Goo to see the design, looks like a belt driven 2nd motor from those drawings, however i couldn't see a belt working.

Is it going to be gear driven, or chain driven?

Keen to see any developments in this market

So if you ran the 7.8 hp with the planetry ratio change and/or drum dia. increase on say the 9.5XP (fastest line speed under load for a low mount), would be a good setup to fit between the rails.

Hey Waz,

For the low mount. After seeing the photo of one end to end, its pretty long.

Direct botl on replacement for a Warn motor and about the same length etc as a 6hp. I have 7.8 24v and 6hp and Wazza has sorted it out so that I can change between them to suit.

Yes it is long, but mid mounting is always the other option. You can always secure it either way.
