4wd systems lokka
I also have one in the front diff of my GQ, i have only had mine in a short while and have brocken the dowls and springs already.
I run 37" Maxiss with beadlocks and was running abut 4 PSI at the time clibming rocks. Maybe It aint designed to handle that sort of punnishment.

I dont recommend them to customers for over 35's, your talking comp spec tyres? little air, maximum traction, thats the potential for broken axles , hubs and they are stronger probably going to handle punishment better than the locker. Usually the pins will only snap when a recoil has happened due to an axle or cv snapping, so an air locker would be a better choice for you application, but for the average guy running average tires when they are setup correctly they are fine.
When the lockers are purchased they do come with instructions on fitting them and the correct clearances must be done or they wont disengage properly.

Going downhill with engine braking would mean that there is a load on the diff, which would mean that if there was a difference in rotation speed between either of the front wheels - they would be locked, which would mean poor steering/front end control.

As far as performance of the Lokka went it works great and like SuperiorEngineering quoted, read the instructions, they are simple to install. Mine worked great, once i did any amount of streering it would relase and it hardly affected my turning circle at all. Thoung it did make steering heavy.
I went to the 4x4 show in mMaitland on the weekend and got a quote to install ARB lockers front and rear. They Quoted $3400 which included compressor and installation. Does anyone know if this is a good price?

ARB quoted me 3700 ish to install front and rear air lockers

i have a lock rite auto locker in the front of my GQ patrol and it works very well.
but i am still buying a air locker as i like the ability to turn it off when you want to.

I have a lokka in the front and a rebuilt factoy rear locker and run 35" silverstones. I hardly use the rear now I have the lokka. I find the only fault is going into waterholes at a angle where the downside wheel is in loose pea shingle it tends to dig right in. Other then that it requires a change in driving style to compensate but I wouldn't have an airlocker even if it was given too me. I find it fne on beaches as well.

I've had a lockrite locka in the fron of my GQ for over a year now and have had no problem with it at all, lose a little of the turning circle but big deal. Mudhunt - I have tightened my lsd as well about 6 months ago and although it was great I must have pinished it too hard as it is wearing and need replacement soon so tightening up may not be the beter option.

oh ok the 4wd guy that was guna do it said it would be fine they do something to the clutch packs and use a diffrent oil which theyve had good results from. so you are using the lockrite not the lokka brand. Ive found where i can get lockrite delivered for 410 bucks nzd. What is the axle part number on patrols?

Looking at putting one of these in myself shortly, do any of the comp guys run them or are they all arb lockers.
i had one in the front and rear of my 60 series cruza and all i got to say is AWSOME, had them installed by my mechanic (Wes from Agro Automotive in East Maitland/Metford) Awsome Job, they worked as they should, let go around corners (no chirping or anything) steering was slightly stiffer but i just ran with one hub unlocked and it was fine and just locked it in if needed,
but saying all that I installed these in my sierra before that and nothing but dramas, very jolty/chirpy around corners, kept clicking, steering was a bitch, just dug in the sand,
i drove a mates sierra at the time he had the same but installed by a mechanic and it was the same story as the cruza really smooth, worked really well,
so with all that said Definatly go lokka's there awsome BUT GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO INSTALL AND AJUST THESE RIGHT, NOT D.I.Y ! ! !
