Its definitely 6".... this is a better pic to show it, i dont have any dead side on, but you can see here how far forward it is.
Also - doesnt jimny power steer bolt on easier than vit power steer? or are they the same box?

by Spike_Sierra
yes jimny is bolt on, but very hard to come by and quite expensive.

Looks good, how is it balanced? Does it handle well?
Jimny is 99.9% bolt on needs new hoses but pump bolts up. I got mine complete for $500 and after the sale he saw there was a 1 infront of the 5
.
Boner I think its any w/t model. I just said steering shaft with slip shaft.

are these studs or bolts? and if so do the heads protrude on the other side?

Looks like countersunk bolts to me! Would need them to sit the box flush to the plate.

Yes the bolts are counter sunk (Just like the ones you can see) and to stop them turning when you want to remove the box i just put a small weld on the head of the counter sunk bolts .
For the steering shaft i got the shaft shortened and a new spline cut , so my steering shaft has 2 ujs now .
I only did this as i was not aware you could use a colasable shaft.
when i made the adaptor i set the steering box up about 15mm foward ,so i am able to redrill the spring purches later on and i run a standard vitara pitman arm.

agree. need one too.
will the orig vit arm work on this wedge setup?

by zookimal
Interested as well, mainly in the interests of allowing the steering box further forward.

how far foward can you go before it hits the crossmember? Or have you removed/modified the crossmember?
As the standard sierra box is right up on the crossmember as it is (hugs it)...

hey

ive got a g13a
my question is; if i grind out the multi v belt groves in the vit pump pulley could i just fit a fit a longer single V belt?
would there be any ill effects?
thanks. Tim
