personally yeh, i'd go 31's over 32's on zuk diffs... still, 4" of lift is really required for 31's to work well without too much body work... you might fidn 3" of lift leaves you scrubbing a lot.

won't comment on 31" vs 32".
you don't need 4" lift to fit 31" tyres.
I run 31" tyres on 40mm OME springs and 20mm extended shackles (50mm/2" total lift). I have 2" bumpstop extensions up front along with the front axle moved 18mm forward. My front bumper is custom which is also required, or at least get rid of those bumper mounting tubes, and hack up the original bumper. I will be soon puting 1" bumpstop extensions in the back, not strictly required, though I need them for my new rear shockies anyway. Also the flare seems have been flattened, I don't consider that much bodywork though.
To fit the 31's you will also want some gearing, and decent offset wheels.
I do not have any scrubbing with my car, and I worked out I could fit a conservativly sized 32" tyre if i modified my front bar a bit, and once I have the 1" bumpstops in the rear.

I run 32x11.5" BFG muddies on 15x8 rims with -28 offset with only 2" BL, and 2" springs (which have sagged).
- 1" bumpstop extension on the front
- front diff 22mm forward
- cut-off the outer front bumper mounts
-and a whole lot of guard bashing with a hammer where the tyres rubbed.
Now I have no rubbing at all and the 32's stuff up into the guard nice
