My understanding is 3rd party personal insurance (TAC) will cover you if you run over a Marshal while transporting, in the pits, etc, but you would not be covered when racing (under a stopwatch).
I haven't looked in to it fully but have spoken to one of my customers who regularly drives his race cars (BMW's) to me for dynotuning, he has a CAMS liscence and Rally Reg which allows him to compete and transport to events and to get work done at repairers. It is cheap, and there are no RWC stipulations, apparently the cars do not appear on police Vic Roads in car computers either. I plab to look into it further when I have the time.
