Im familiar with what a wastegate does and how it works but couldnt work out where it was when i looked to find it.

can anyone desribe where to find it or take a picture of it so i can check it out.

can you test them somehow?

My Plan is to try to run 10 psi, get a pyro and also get it re dynod to try to get a good mix of drivability and reliability.

my ct20 turbo has been recond and is much better, specs say that standard will deliver 8.7-11.5 psi. mine does about 9.5 which is all i wanna go with 260k on the engine. i put a pyro on and played around with the fuel a bit and found that an extra half turn gives the best power/ecconomy. just make sure the pyro doesnt spend much time over 600C. with diesel more fuel = power but also = more heat, if you dont feel confident doing it yourself get it dynoed

my 2 cents

what did the reco on the ct 20 cost?

mine doesnt seem to make any useful boost until being pushed quite hard. at 100 or 110 on flat it might make 2psi. under load being pushed to keep 110 up a hill it gets to about 4 or 5. big hill revving as hard as it would might see 6psi.

Is it normal to not get boost in normal driving? The 4.2 patrol I used to drive has the boost available much lower which made it more drivable in normal everyday stuff.

How interchangable are different turbos?

for instance would a 1991 toyota soarer turbo fit an ln 106 engine?

is it bolt patterns which change? boost levels and when they kick in? etc etc.

does anyone know of other turbo models which will just bolt on.

IM now really keen to get boost coming on lower in the revs, would a rebuild of my ct 20 do this? or do i need to look other turbos?
