I guess Cal will be looking into the reason why it broke, and you may find he will post answers too, maybe there was some form of defect or something?

CalOffroad Cvs

Post by crliin »

dont forget the Cv didnt break it was the axle
The GU Cvs are larger and stronger than GQ ones as you know but GU axles are esentialy the same as GQ just a little longer
we use a different design in the GQ Cvs and axles and this has proven to be extremely strong and we havnt seen and Cvs or axles break.
Since this one GU axle has broken we have completely redesigned the inner axle setup and changed parts of the CV joint, these will be available in the final production run, any one currently running the 1st GU ones that may have concerns shouldnt worry as they still have by far the best and strongest setup you can get and are far superior to stock axles and if there are any problems we can replace them with the final run.
we have produced hundreds of axles and only had one break wich is pretty good as there are people world wide doing there best to destroy them

I guess I'll be taking a set of stocker spares to Ateco. That's concern enough for me, I'll put my hand up for a replacement set from the final run once this is sorted!
