you also need the gearbox for the 3.0TD, and you have no idea what effects that level of heat has had on the castings of the case, or whether a heap molten shit has fallen into it through the gear shift levers.
I'd avoid a burnt out car for an engine conversion for a LOT of reasons- There are a huge number of sensors and wiring and crap that run along the back of the block and top of the bellhousing that would be damaged by a cabin fire, plus if it was hot enough to damage the firewall, then whats it done to the rear of the alloy head? get that hot enough and you'll change the temper and hardening of the alloy and it could crack in 10,000kms time.
By far, the EASIEST way to do a 3.0TD conversion in a LN106 is get a KZN130 surf halfcut. then all you have to do is strip the lux down- Remove dashboard, front wheel arches, grille, clear out EVERY wire out of the bodywork except for the plug that comes thru the floor under the drivers seat, the two front door open sensors and the plug for the interior lights. Move the engine mounts back 57mm (if your using the adaptor plate to retain the gear transfer case) Pull the entire loom and ecu out of the surf, place into hilux (it all fits) change the left hand indicator and fuel sender wires to come out the drivers side and into the plug that goes to the rear. Put engine in, wire it all up, reassemble, swap the two side indicator plugs to suit the hilux ones, swap plugs on front indicators to suit hilux ones and done.
Well, not QUITE that simple, but it sure as hell beats trying to divorce the ECU wiring from the surf loom- since the ECU has to interface with the speedo and gearboxes.

Could not agree more, get a surf halfcut. Bolt off bolt on. I had a few delays with mine- waiting for bits, waiting for funds and waiting to get things organised.
BUT- once i had the transfer rebuilt, the new clutch and flywheel installed and the bodywork back on, it took me less than 5 days to go from this:
