Springs are from Rangie Spares in Melbourne,the rears are custom made but going to get them re done as they are abit too soft & also going to go up around another inch shocks are Bilstein long travel units.

Looks good Mal. I see by the sticker on the truck that it is a fellow LROC member.Guess I will just have to out flex him in the Rangie :) You say that the shocks are long travel Bilsteins,are they 80 series or the ones from Rangie Spares ?

Great pics Mal, :D will post my truck in a similar position to compare. from the looks of it your defenders rear has a little bit more flex then mine :cry: , any idea what the dimensions of those rangie spare bilsterins are? just looking at the photos ( not sure ) i think my front flexes better. its probly the slotted bushes i got from sam i seem to be able to tuck a front wheel a bit more. how much taller does it sit over standard? what size wire are the rear springs and there rating?

Nice work Britswed. What size wheels/tyres are they and how much offset. Did you raise the shock mounts or keep them standard to limit up travel/wheel scrub. how much lift in the coils did you go and what bumpstop clearence did you end up with. looks great :cool:

Brits you have the same setup i have done to the rear of My RR, i didnt lift the rear shock mounts as i found it worked alot better with the standard rear shock mounts and yeah its works good on my rangie :)

Just one thing how have you gone about bumpstops ???? I have calculated that i need 3" longer ones as the inner position of the bump stops stil allow alot of flex at the shock and end of the diffs

When I rang them they told me; rears are 475 closed, 725 open, fronts are 515 closed, 780 open.

Hi guys, just thought id let u know that i added 35 mm coil spacers to my spring lift today and took her for a test drive. with the 2 inch + springs, sams slotted bushes, 35mm coil spacers allround, the on road drive seems no different to when it just had the raised coils. it drives and rides great! :armsup: took it out onto a long deserted straight and got her up to 130Km/h. there was no vibrations to be seen, no drifting or wandering and she held the road realy well. probly wont need to look at those double cardins afterall. Big bonus is that she looks a little tuffer now aswell.

Spring rates (or Rangie Spares colour codes) and lengths :D

I'm currently working over my Deafener ;) and having my own rate springs made :cool: Its coming along nicely ATM...

Will wait and see how the next 2 sets try out...

Looks good but I think those trailing arms need laminating - and looks like the rear flares will cop a beating.

Hi team raider. have seen ur truck else where on the net. very nice rig. my springs are kings 2inch over standard 180 pound fronts 240 rears. seem to be realy good so far ive found however have just had a rack put on top and had a custom made 100L fridge freezer made for the rear. this plus recovery gear, false floor and draw system comes to about 300 kg of extra weighrt soon to go on my truck. so I think i might look at the rangie spares orange purple spring which i belive are 3 inch over standard and have a higher rating which im going to need. empty my truck sits lovely. nice and high. i want to keep it this way when the extra weight goes in.

Superior engineering were majing me new cranked trailing arms but have never herd back from them. buggers!

I was running OME 220lb / 290lb and LTRs... I've since decided I want a bit more lift and have changed to King springs RR rear springs up front (220Lb 3" lift) and have 3 sets of king springs made to my specs that I'm messing about with in the back.

I have 290Lb, 320 Lb and 360 Lb rears that I have had custom made. This is part of my ongoing developement of a good load bearing yet compliant spring for a 110 Defender :? Each designed to be approx 3" lift.

I have also got, yet not fitted front and rear spring locating cones, modified front shock towers and rear upper shock mounts, exteneded braided brake lines and modified bumpstops. :D

Unfortunately work is stuffing my time around :bad-words: and preventing this from all being fitted up quickly (plus I'm currently lifting my wifes SWB vitara 8" :lol: )

As far as laminated rear arms are concerned, I have fitted strengthened, Heavyduty re-aligned arms to the rear of mine.

They cost $550 + freight...

I'll take some pics soon and post them....

OK I stand corrected, they looked like the tiny stock defender ones in the pics - must be the big wheels making them look small.

What are you going to do with the rear wheel arches?

G,day mike. From center of wheel to bottom lip of flair ive got 555mm front and 595 rear. im not sure what stock is. I saw in a pic you were running baja claws at one stage. how did u find them? what size were they and was there any scrubbing? Im looking for a new set and are swaying towards the Simex JT's because of there width but interested in the claws as well. Thanks

sussed out those doulbe cardin joints today. went to universal driveshaft services Queensland and had a talk. seems the easiest method is to use a TOY double cardin and use an adapter plate to suit the landrover front. so went and priced a double cardin from the wreckers and they want about 100 bucks :D ( 500 new ). UDSQ want 200 buck to make an adapter and fit it all up. 300 bucks is better then 500-1500 bucks for a whole new front shaft i reckon!

Drew they're great mate :D The claws are 305-70-16 Radial Claws on custom offset 16x8 wheels from Eastern Wheel Works.
Fitting on all 5 rims are Secondair bead locks which are absolutely awesome.

I've since fitted flares to the vehicle (4" extensions each corner) to cover the wheels back up, but the only rubbing with the offset rims was a small contact point on the front and rear of each flare. This has since gone due to the flares :lol:

Thanks for the centre hub to flare measurements, I'm keeping close track of the measurements as I modify mine (aka Lara - Being a Tomb Raider edition).

With the OME 751/755 she measures 550 front 590 rear.

I'm currently waiting on the new coils for the rear to go with the new front springs and we'll see how she sits and rides too!

fOR THE FRONT ARMS JUST CRANK THE EXISTING ROVER ARMS.
they loose aprox 3mm lth.

They are made of soft metal and can be bent very easily.

it looks like the towers are shorter and the rear mounts are lower
with longer bumpstops
