people are beig charged astranomical prices for parts and labour because they donot do their homework.
an hour or so rining around for thingsd and you will be suprised when you can get.
if you buy a second had chev for 1k with ancilleries splash out and spend a grand on it you have 2 grand.
spend 1500 on the adapter and clutch second hand/new
spend 1.5k putting it in, you stil only have 5000.
once this engine is in, its cheap to maintain, cheap to repair.
if you spend 8 grand on a diesel engine NEW, with a RECO PUMP and something happens ( murphy's law) and the diesel pump shits itself and then blows the motor, you are up for ANOTHER 8 grand! ( if you had a chev its a cheap rebuild or replace. once you have the adapter kit in , you can buy nearly 3 brand chev crate motors ) i find this risk ridicuous, especially for the average joe that has to count his pennies.
