Hi all...I have a 16 year old Trailblazer that has spent its entire life in the back of my utes.It still works faultlessly as the day it was bought and has never stopped.There is no way in the world an Engel would have lasted due to the outside damage mine has been thru,It has major scars.Its alluminium so it cant rust either.
My brother bought his the same time as me.His thermostat stopped working.He rang trailblazer up,they told him how to hot wire the fridge to keep it going and sent a new thermostat imediateltly before he even sent money,They said they trusted him that he would send the money.Service like that is unheared of these days.
The trailblazer is more efficient due to better insulation.
The trailblazer comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and can be custom made to your size.

+1 - They are a tough unit. Super efficient. I know of a couple that live in the backs of farmers utes.

If you've got heaps of space, then I reckon it'd be hard to go passed a Trailblaza. If space is an issue, like it is for most people, then I'd get an Engel.

Ive got a dual cab 105 tojo so space is not really that big of a drama. Im really leaning towards the trailblaza!!!

I had a Trailblazer and I gave it a flogging. It worked a treat
I rolled my 4by up out of Weipa in FNQ . I had the Trailblazer secured in the back. I had to wait over an hour and a half for someone to come along and roll the 4by back on its wheels. The Trailblazer worked the whole time without a problem, and I used it for another year until I sold it ( needed the money -- bugger, still kick myself to this day for selling it
)
I have spoken to the manufacturers of the Trailblazers since. We spoke about the different types of fridges on the market. They said, most of them are good fridges, but once you get up north ( in the really hot weather ) they tend to fail, due to the insulation.
I think its common sense. Go for a Danfoss compressor ( Trailblazer, Waeco, etc ) and the rest is up to the insulation.
I reckon Trailblazer is in a league of its own !

I have a 70lt trailblaza and LOVE IT!.... I've had mine for 2 years had a small prob with one of the lines in the copresser call them up thay came and got the fridge of me and replaced all the lines and the compresser and put all the opptions in for the trouble. Mine has now been on for 12 months and it sits at 0deg running 12volt only and pluging it in every second night to a ctec charger. I had to set mine up with two 245amp/hour 6volt battires thought witch gives me about 5 days with out starting the car.

One other thing if it is going to be out side ie- on a ute, I would not use anything bar a trailblaza any thing eles would fall apart, especaly up there in that part of the country, and you don't want to tell the miss in 5years time "we need a new fridge".....
