Erm, sorry, but yes they do. Keep yours long enough and they will.
IPF's, Hella's, Narva's, PIAA's, Cibie's... they will all eventually rust.
More so with a bit of beach driving. Some just take longer to rust than others.

You are obviously mistaking Turinis for Oscars. Type 'google.com' into your browser, then type 'Cibie Turini' into the input field, then click the 'images' option. Enough said.

Given the popularity of Lightforce people tend to ask a higher price on the second hand market: If you can get a perfect set of used Turinis for half the price of similiar used lightforces then surely it would be wise to buy them?.

I have had two Cibie Turini's on my ute for the last 8 years, both with the driving light beam. A lot of my driving is long distance night and I have found two problems with these lights. One, other drivers tuck in behind to take advantage of the light. Two, I tend to get sore eyes from the glare of road signs during all-night driving eg Sydney to Adelaide.
A few months ago, on a night drive to Inverell, my wife was pulled over by a highway patrol. He said she wasn't doing anything wrong, he had been following for a while and was very impressed by the lights, and had to find out what they were.

Second that. I've used Hella's, Super Oscars and Turinis when I used to rally and the Turini came up trumps. I've just put the Turinis on the Cruiser and I'm finding the same thing with the glare from the road signs.

As far as range goes, I can see far enough to have about a 30 secs at highways speeds to react to whatever's on the road. That's plenty enough for me...

I have to admit that even though i'm running Lightforce 240's i think they're a bit bland. Sure it gets over 1klm down the road but there's not an awful lot of difference between these and my $90ea Narva Targa 200's. The lightforce are definately brighter, but there's not a lot of use for light over 1klm down the road other than for wank factor. They make no difference to light on the side of the road but i'm running spot covers so i purchased a spread cover (they call it a combo) today so i'll plonk that on over the weekend and test it out. Maybe i need to check the voltage at the light or sell them and get some of these Turinis you guys are talking about...

i just apgraded my headlight so spotties are gone,had ligtforce 240's and hit a tree and they sent me a new one.....think that speaks for itself .
Also not into metal casing and glass lenses so many lights have.

There is a whole other side to this debate that no one has touched on,
Lightforce is an Australian co, employing Australians to design, build and market a world class product both here and around the world, when you guys buy, Hella, Cibe ect ect you are sending your hard earned Australian dollars to Germany where a German company gives them to its German employee's, when you buy Lightforce, the lightforce profits and employees wages are injected back into our economy every time they spend.
Some times there is no financially viable option, in this case there is, keep Aussie jobs and dollars in Australia.

I put the spread cover on the 240's this evening and went for a drive. It's better, but still not as much spread coverage as i would have liked.

The 240's come with "GL02" longlife globes which are the horizontal filament bulbs producing a claimed 730,000cp. Has anyone installed the lightforce vertical filament globes "GL06" which are supposed to produce 1,000,000cp?

With the change of globes for the lightforce to the vertical filament globe.

Unfortunately you cant run with this mod, as these globes are designed to be used on portable power pack applications upto 12.8 v(Shooters and the like)
If you try to run these in your car the will work untill you start the car.
Charging voltage with the car running is upto 13.8v. And globes go pop.

This info is from lightforce direct as I used to run XGT's and wanted more light,

So I got Bosch Navigator Xenon's (spot/spread) and Bosch compass2000 xenon(2 spots). With any lights aiming is the key. 2 smaller spots aimed off to the side slightly
The result of this is combo is I have a spot beam to 1.2k, 2 to the sides looking for roo's and corners for about 1k and the spread beam flaring out at about 30' wide going about 500m and the result is I have no problem with any type of terrain, although it is total overkill (and yes I am scared of he dark).

Wow do you have a pic with them on there?

I dialed the 240's back to the concentrated beam with the combo covers and it's much better. If i'm still not happy i'll get some smaller spreads down the track to add to the 240's...

How do ths Bull lights compare to lightforce? No one seems to mention them and can they be set up with HID's? I have a set of two that I have not fitted also a set of hella 2000 that I bought some time back. I run 4 narva lights at the moment and was thinking that 2 big lights, like bull or the Hella with HID & spread beam would be more useful with a good spread beam than pencil beams for cruising at 100Ks. Thanks.

Apparently the XGT's and the new LF 210's put out a better spread than the 240's which is probably a good thing because the 240's have an extremely concentrated spot that is useless for normal roads where you need a bit of spread...

Utilise the latest D1 series HID bulbs (In fact it's the same as the ones inside the genuine Lightforce 240HID! ) and new generation slim-ballasts, this HID kit will fit Lightforce XGT with minimal modification. The HID bulb will fit straight into the XGT, NO adaptor is required. Installation is very easy and detailed instructions will be provided.

with the 240 blitz i use 2 combo filters and get about 800mtr of light
with a very wide beam. perfect for most Aussie road conditions. i have
had them for 6 or 7 years and do a lot of night driving and have never
had a problem.
i had cibie oscar plus's before these lights and got sick of the globes blowing.

You need to open your eyes a little more Piggy. But then i prob see a few more interstate trucks than you. Most trucks are now getting rid of their lightforce due to them falling off on corrigated roads, The plastic going brittle in the sun and cracking, The chrome plated reflector going black and the plastic lense going yellow. I think Lightforce left it to late to replace the Blitz range with the XGT. Most have now gone back to Hella 4000 or the new Narva HIDs. Its been many years since i have had a good report back from a fellow truck driver about Lightforce. When they first hit the market everyone ran them.

Took me under 20 minutes per light to fit them! and i LOVE them now.

Its interesting lining up the XGT's on the lux next to the 240 blitz on dads prado- the beam pattern on the XGT is a lot wider than the Blitz- the blitz really are two pencils down the road, the xgt's throw a lot more to the side.

I guess that stems back to the Blitz was originally a shooters light someone chucked a vehicle mount onto, vs the XGT's which were designed as a driving light from day one (or so im told)

Also- the 35w bulbs are more than sufficient in the XGT's- any brigher and you wouldnt be able to see crap all when you dip to lows.

thats what im after..
i currently have the two middle spotties facing straight ahead and the two outers slightly facing either side to light up the sides of the road.

its just that i have cracked one of them, that im looking at replacing the lot.
it will cost me $130-150 to get another pair but i have been wanting HIDs for a while now so it makes sense to get a new set..
