if you ever get the chance to sit a LUX diff next to an 80 front diff, you'll realize how dumb that statement was

Mate run them front and back in my ln106 lux and i must say they are magic. I have just bought a gu myself and am thinking arb in the rear and a lockright lokka up front the only issue with the rear as said by a couple of the other lads is the rear does get a bit twichy otherwise I would run autos in the rear aswell. mind you I run 35s on the lux mudzillas which are 13.5 wide aswell and i dont break cvs. mind you I have seen plenty of unlocked cars smash cvs up trying to go where my lux goes flogging the shit out of them and lifting wheels with their foot flat to the floor. Put it this way they are worth their money and work well!!!!!!

MY GQ - Its was a 75 series comp truck mate. I put a 60 series reinforced diff in the front. So it had the same size centres front and rear. had nothing to do with the locking mechanism.
Everyone keeps argueing that mechanical is better because you dont have to look for the switch on the dash. HOW FAST ARE YOU TAKING THESE HILLS? They must not be as extreme as the ones i do. Cruise up slowly, get to a tricky bit, flick on the locker and crawl past flick it off and keep going. I would have got myself into way more troubled spots with the front locker on. Slidding off steep cambers into ruts with the front, where the only way get back on your line is rolling back and trying again. And the fact is if you cant turn it off then you dont have as much control. therfore not as good. apart from breaking them.
Some people are happy with them and have no problems. Great, saved a few $$$ and your happy. But airlocker is stronger and better.

What a crock.
Could say that for most of the responses.
Had both, and still can't knock the auto for value.
Some need to learn to drive accordingly.

ran a 4wd systems auto locker in my 5 litre mq, 33x13.5 maxxis mudzillas, gave it so much abuse on the black top and in the bush, never had a problem, loved it. pulled it out when i sold my truck and it looked like the day it went in, air would be nice but we dont all have that sort of money, i have still got mine for my mq (bought a gq) if anyone would like to buy,
cheers
