Looks good bud, might come see it this week.
Is it worth bracing the back stays down to the frame for a bit more strength?

looks good mate,
Couple of questions.
Are the sliders bolt on or welded, you got any better pics?
Are you using mdf/wood for the wheel arches?
And the two bars that run from the tray up to the roll bar, the joint at the top i presume is bushed, why so?
Loving the look.

If you look close enough they are bolted on.
I think the MDF is temporary

they are weld on. A plate is welded on to the chassis ane then they are bolted to that. The bolt on types use a u-bolt sort of system. Cost me $1000 for the bar work on the tray and yeah it has bushes, not sure why supose it stops rattleing but that is just the way if said they do them.

Just a tip when your finished...
On the underside of the try it might be a good idea to seal all crevices (sikaflex) where the alum sits on steal. anywhere dirt/water gets in will cause havoc in not much time.
When i build a new try for my GU it will be completely sealed underneath!
Looking good too. Like the idea of bolt on rear stays.

yes aidos i filled in and grinded back.
and yeh i was going to do something along those lines with the sikaflex.
also to prevent any rattle that may come about in the future.

Change the exhaust

Dump it under the car before the diff. Looks pretty average coming out up that high, plus there will be a fare bit of heat in that box if it stays there.

mate loving this thread, im just running an alloy atm but hope to follow in similar footsteps with my trol ute soon. looks great hey, what was the total dammage to built it yourself? chequerplate would have been pricey no? an how many mm plate did you go? and when you bolted it down to the chassis did you use any kind of rubber or poly spacers?

hey mate. wouldnt know i final cost on the thing, stopped counting lol.
i used 3mm checkerplate on it all, it cost me about $155 a sheet, but dnt use this as a guide as i got it pretty cheap off a mate.
i just put some 10mm rubber under it where it mounts to the chassie.
cheers chris

tire is fine next to it. there was a gaurd between them but it broke.. none the less no trouble at all, no marks on the tire.
yes i have a box that i picked up last week but yet to be installed, will have pics up when it is in. it goes between the wheel arch and front of tray on passinger side. slide out draw system.

Looks good mate, nice effort. Maybe paint the checker plate in the wheel arch black so it doesn't stand out so much?

it was mentioned, apparently he is happy with it.
maybe it will get changed in the future, i know i would be moving it.
can you give us a ballpark on total cost? i quite like this design, much more practical than many i have seen
one day i might do mine...maybe

nice design and looks like it will do the job, pity about the chequerplate though as I reckon it makes it look less finished. it's a bastard to keep clean and personally I reckon flat steel would look better. But that;s just me.
Any further updates on it? Has it worked the way you want it to? Any further changes? Did you get a canopy made in the end?
