See what happens when you fit cheap common parts, the vehicle slowly turns generic
I guess that guy wasnt a purist
but if you were to build a tuff vehicle, then a RR body with a good mix of gen V8 and patrol running gear isnt a bad thing
I would agree on the Chev but mate the rest of your post just lost you any credability you had to start with
Oh and YOUR KIDDING RIGHT

it was done in my car before I brought it. (97 disco dash)
wiring issues were the taco no read's from the alternator, speedo drive is now electric as well, indicators needed something between them to stop the fast flashing and something else that slips my memory.
custom brackets also needed to be made, previous owner said if he knew how much work was involved with it he wouldn't of started it.
what model is yours? do you have any photos at all? i wouldn't mind seeing how it all fits around the windscreen and A pillars. also how the centre console meets up to the dash too if you have the oppertunity to take some snaps for me? thanks heaps for the info guys
They fit around the windscreen same as rangie.
With the dash curling issue with disco I, the fix, apart from modified dash that scouse referred to, was a kit to pull it down with screws
With dakars and bushies, the windscreen has a lot more slope on it. An extra trim section is used to cover the gap between the front of the rangie/disco dash and the windscreen. This extra trim could be used to fix the curl problem of the disco dash.

thanks, thats good news. the reason i asked was to see if the dash is the same length and width and to make sure i dont have to modify anything cosmetically or fill in gaps.

I dont know how you're going with this, but a mate of mine is putting the Disco dash in his Rangie. He is also putting the heater box and complete wiring loom in. The info he has given me is that it is easier to unpick the subframe from the rangie and replace with disco item.
if you want more info pm me and i'll send you his number.

I haven't visited the LRA website for some time, but they used to do this conversion and had some info.

I just had a look at their website. It has been completely updated from last time I looked and I could find no reference to the nissan box. It seems to be still under construction.
I can't recall if they mated the nissan box to the rover LT230 or not.
The LT230 is best part of rover transmissions and AFAIK low range has a better reduction than the nissan t/case.
The rear output on the nissan t/case is centred so is not good with rover offset diffs but is ideal if you use a nissan diff/axle assembly.
I suggest you give Andrew a call, but be sitting down when you ask about $$$.
I have not had much experience with these gearboxes, so don't know what is involved in using one in a rover. From my short time as a passenger, they seem a reasonable box,

oh okay bugger
i was hoping to be able to use the patrol transfercass for the part time. Is it possible to put reduction gears in the patrol gearbox or transfercass ?

I have one of the nissan 5 speed conversions sitting in the shed not doing much, and it has the LT 230 transfer attached to it via an adapter ( naturally ). I'm pretty sure a bodylift is essential to fit the conversion. I never did get around to fitting it.
I think places like Marks adapters do reduction gears for patrol transfers .

got all the info i need, easiest and neatest way to convert is cut out the firewall and floor pan and drop in a complete disco unit up to behind the seats. should be sorting the new one out in the next month or so then get on with the rewire of the front end. should be up to my ears in it all
