I might be tight - but i'm not THAT tight!! 80,000KM??!!!!! Thats insane!
Has some interesting reading:

I know someone that manages a Mobil servo, so i can get Mobil stuff at cost price. The only issue is that (as per Patrol4x4 thread) the only Mobil oils that meet specs are either semi or fully synthetic. Not too sure about the sythetic stuff, but at under $90/20L it shouldn't be too bad. Cheaper than the last lot of Mobil 1 i bought (
).

You can't beat CASTROL RX or SHELL Rimular X. I used to work for Castrol in sales and tech and the money they spend on research is stupid, but the products are second to none. Shell is as good. No I don't work for castrol anymore I left that industry 5 years ago but still only use there products. Supercheap get bigger discounts than any other reseller for castrol product so they should be cheaper.

I've been using Castrol RX (used to use RX Superplus) for a fair while now and having read this thread and others i'm switching to Rimula X.
Haven't read or heard a negative thing about Rimula but there is some mention about Rx's detergent level etc.

Hi guys, im no oil expert just a backyarder but i used to use rimula in my old GQ and thought it was great. I did try mobil delvac mx, only out of curiosity and coz i worked next door to a mobile depot and found that it held 1-2psi higher oil pressure than the rimula especially after higher temps. Now in my 98 GQ i was running penrite HPR 5 and liked that also but havnt got a oil pressure gauge in yet but it seemed to stay a little bit cleaner for longer after it went in. I have gone back to mobile and using the delvac mx esp. Just put it in yesterday so far so good. I did use delo in a hilux i had a couple of years ago and liked that to. I would use all the oils ive mentioned above again. They are all reputable brands that have been around for a long time so they all cant be that bad. Saying that we all are changing the oil at 5000ks so i cant see any of them harming our motors. Maybe im talkin sh#t. Cheers Lozza.

Hahaha yeah silly question I admit. Well I have decided to change from penrite to shell rimula x 15w 40 and run standard oil filters (blue ones) after reading this thread. Very informative! I got a 24 pack of oil filters (nissan) off ebay for $155 posted from blackburn 4x4 in Victoria. They still have 5 boxes left if anyone is interested, just search for gq oil filters. Now I've been trying to get a good price on the oil and repco quoted me $125 for 10 ltrs!!!!!!! wow thats alot. Does anyone know of a place to get oil in bulk in brisbane for a decent price??? Thanks.

I just changed from Penrite to Shell Rimula X over the weekend. Still running generic oil filters, genuine Nissan fuel/air filters.
Supercheap Auto.
Shell Rimula X
10L = $65.00
20L = $109.00

I reckon it's a good move, there are other threads as well that have a lot of good things said about rimula x, i'm doing the same thing and going to use Cummins LF3314 filters.

I used castrol Rx Super in a mazda T4000 oil chages were done every 10,000 approx once a month . This truck was worked hard , and apart from a water pump it did close to 800 ,000 k,s and we never put a spanner on the motor.
The point is here do ur oil changes regulary . Preventive maintanenece prevents piss poor performance . Go to a truck spares place oil is usually cheaper there including filters. Oils aint oils Sol.
