Well you can all laugh now because on its maiden towing exercise it snapped a crank shaft. #4 Main bearing cap came loose and flexed the crank and it snapped about 2.5hrs from home with my hilux on a car trailer behind it. Thank god for RACQ Ultra care. It only cost me $50 to get both cars and the trailer home.

So looks like its time for a Disco 3.9 conversion :D

I drove to Sydney willing to buy it for $2500 knowing it had an engine problem and a transfer problem. Its an $8000 rig all day long with a good motor and Transfer. The transfer ended up costing me $450 to repair with brand new parts and i should be able to buy a damaged disco complete for 2-3 grand so its still a cheap tow rig.

ruff.... have you thought about the 3.9 isuzu diesel that will bolt in....
excellent towing power and economy to boot

Trust me they are not as easy as just bolting them in. My Boss has one in his Rangie. They are also real heavy and very expensive to buy a good one.

yeah...maybe not a bolt in.....not too expensive from truck wreckers but yes very heavy....

and I suppose you just cant beat the sound of a V8
