I just had a look at the Qld "CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION" and it's of no use to us at all.

Guess that a Series Landrover could quite easily make the cut, especially an ex-army one. At least the rover boys can get away with it.
Hmmmm... Datsun 1600 - 1969 model with some new diffs and a transfer case

Then it's just a case of substituting appropriate newer stuff in to make it work the way you want.
My Series 2a ex army just had standard 4cyl vehicle rego.

I wouldnt say that. I think I could register lockless as one of these:

Just need to limit max speed to 20km/h and put a flashing light on the roof. Doesent let me drive on any roads but gets me third party insuramce unser the scheme and if the cops get me driving at Ormeau, say, they carnt fine me for driving an unregistere vehicle.

sam, do you think you'd be able to build something with a small motor (supercharged zuk or something), lux diffs, single seater, even made out of aluminium with 'centre tiller steering' setup and sneak it through the quad section?

If you want to sneak you can sneak through any section (I think because nobody was to inspect the rig) but the rego will be useless if something bad happens.
The one to do is the offroad utility. My tube buggy is very close to that.
