Also the ~4mm angle for the tow hitch was what prevented me from catching on the folded under peice of steel that you can see on my 3rd pic. Is that all thats stopping you from a similar fitment? What about spacing down with some flat bar?
i picked the pair of tow hooks up for $10, yes I should have checked first...
a spacer of some sort would make it work, i was concerned about the extra leverage. mine has a massive amount of extra steel that runs across the back of the chassis, i'll get some photos & post them up.

hey, i know this is probably a silly question, but can you not just attach a tow hook to chassis rail where the holes are for the tow bar/frame mount points?

the spacing of the captive nuts is larger than the holes in the aftermarket "recovery hooks"

looking back at your pics PCRman, it appears your original loop has gone AWOL?
original loop was mounted inboard to the chassis rail and tow frame with one side welded to the chassis along and the other side welded across. Nothing a 6" grinder couldnt fix.
Just f*&k that factory tire down off and mount the pathfider hook so that it bends down like mine. Worst case you might have to trim out a small section at the bottom of your bumper so that straps/chain etc clear OK
.
I like your idea and think it is good for light recoveries where you want to just hook your strap on with out mucking around with bow shackles.
But for a heavy snatch recovery I'd think your better to go to the trouble and remove your tow ball and attach your snatch strap using a 3.2 t shackle as the 4.75 t ones won't fit.
Reason for that is I have seen the nissan tow hooks like the one you have break and go thru the rear window of the recovery vechile.
