My first question is why 454 big block? We're gtting better power figures from a 434 small block. And also, seeing that your putting it in a 4x4, the slight size difference will leave more room for accessories and fans etc.

There is nothing wrong with carbies when you know what your doing. Barry Grant carbs and fuel systems seem to be the latest fashion. However for a fourby I'd prefer injection. A mechanical injection system is quiet straight forward. But everyone seems to like this electrical birds-nest stuff.

I was thinking the same thing back at the start of this thread, but he did say it wasn't going to be road rego'd (or at least hinted) so getting LPG to it could be a bitch if he's playing along way from home.

i had never done wiring ever before and mine isn't a birds nest and has been a thousand times more reliable and easy to maintain than carby ever was.

conversion was standard sierra carb motor to jimny efi motor with coil packs.

Hey guys,soz havn't had a chance 2 get on here. To clarify a few things;
1-Am getin a new motor built ground up thru a very reputabile engine builder for next 2 noting. 550hp @ 700ftlb.
2-Got quoted $3200 for throttle body injection plus tuning approx $400.
3-Was thinking of running duel fuel,gas for off road(Hills etc) & fuel 4 onroad most times, maintaining original duel fuel tanks(Do a bit of touring which gas isn't readily available) Running 5" Lift & 35" MTZ's
4-Was lookin at the usual LS1's etc but would like to stay away from electrics if possible for deep water crossings etc.
5-Been round carby fed engines all my life & like to stick to what i know.

so it will be road registered?

You will never get a carby motor to meet 04 emmisions requirements. So your ONLY answer is GAS or a Good Fuel Injection system.

coil packs would handle water crossings better than a dizzy? maybe? computers are easy to position and keep away from water to the stage that if you where to drown the ecu you would have drowned your other computers / modules and things anyways.
