i would be interested to see how an ls1 go's with quad cams.
If these are the engines out of the soarers 90% of the ones i have seen leak more oil then a rangie. Make more ticking noise then an ls1 and feel a little underpowered. They are a large car though and im sure once they are played with are great. I just think stock out of the box they are a bit of a disapointment.

My 1Uz in a GQ SWB was a bit of a slug. More torque with the old six.
A 4.7 from a Cruiser would have been a better choice, for 4wding.

250 kgs! that doesn't sound right, is that the box as well? a 308 is 220 kgs
i read that they can make up 700 hp on std internals with turbos and tune. there is a guy running one in a capri making about 1200hp. its in one of last year street machine mags

in all fairness most toyo v8 that you get probably come from the 89-90 luxury sedans. if you where to pull one which is 10 years younger and wit5h variable valve timing it would stack up better
(no i dont have any actual first hand evidence but just going off patterns in numbers per cube etc)
one thing i noticed is that often manufactures drop cylinders to increase cubes per bang ( lower rev hp/torque). look at how suzuki dropped sub 1l 4 cyl for example or that the old 1.3l 3 cyl charade engine vs the same era suzuki g13
i got the weight from the thread above, the guy weighed it without the gearbox fully dressed

Yeah those quad cams and carp do make it heavier. If you want a light powerful V8 go for an LS motor, but they're still not a cool as a holden V8

mrRocky wrote:350rwkw with stock gear ? Most lux's using this motor are lucky to see 200 rwhp. I think this conversion is worse than a 308/253 combo in a hilux having driven both, but would be ok in a sierra because of the weight and the torqueless nature of the toyota motor wouldnt really matter.
The 1uz may be a more technologically advanced motor but compared to an LS1 it gets pooped on. Would still be good in a zuk tho
Sorry when i said stock gear, i ment the motor hasn't been opened, Turbo setups on them to make the numbers. Weird i hurd they didn't have much weight in them..... that Ae86 drift car thingy has one in it. Member someone sayen the 4agze wasn't much lighter. BUT ive been wrong befor

we weighed the engine before it went in the rocky- 230kg's WITH gearbox (nice heavy auto).

I like that idea, it means I can lift 113 Kgs without to much of a struggle ... woot woot for me.

I gave a G13A long motor to a young kid off 4wd monthly forum and you should have seen the old bloke who came to pick it up when I lifted the motor out of my tool room up the front yard and onto the street and into his ute haha. He was thinking we'd need an engine crane.

pretty sure there is a white comp sierra (well kinda) running the lexus 8 in qld. saw it at battle of the states last year running 37 treps, from memory he registered as a kit car to get away with some legalities, went like stink and sounded sweet. thats about all i know
if you dig for photos from last years BOTS from rover park you may see it, would presume he'd be back this year - june long w'end.

Was it a stretched coiled tin top with exo, sounds like Steve's old rig (CHOPZUKI).
