hulsty wrote:Thats a major bummer that stock steering cant be incorporated, have you thought about manufacturing different steering arms to allow the use of standardish steering arm position?
Another option is the Marks adaptors HD swivel housing, pity you need to be rich to buy them.
Im not sure what ur saying here mate? why whould u want to buy a high steer but keep the steering arm in the original position? im confused
im happy enough to run Billys set up with new arms if i have to, but would rather run tierods for ease of parts replacement. My old highsteer never ran out of angle on the tierods, so i cant see why i need hemijoints?
Im ringing Locktup once they open to find out what the go is
For those people that dont necessarily want high steer but want stronger/more reliable steering since the standard 80 arms bolted to the bottom of the housing have a history of giving issues unless very closely monitored.
It would be good if there was a option for the steering arms on these knuckles that positioned the steering rods in a similarish position to standard and accepted the standard TRE's save having to move the panhard etc on a standard geometry 80

I rang them yesterday mate. Got a bit turned off with an extra $84 per set of heims x 3 and also some fab work for new draglink and steering. Realistically. Your looking at $1600 finished.
I just got off the phone with Billy. He is going to start working on steering arms that will accept FJ80 rod ends. We cant give you a time frame yet but they will be in the works ASAP.

No offence man, but if u just want a stronger std knuckle, then u would just buy a marks one wouldnt u? thats the market they are aimed at?

3 sets? does u 80 have sure wild weird steering
Mine was 1300ish delivered. i pretty happy with that considering that my original high steer (which was weak as piss till i modded it) cost me over $700, and these things are ten times the set up.
But yeah the down side is the Heims, i'll be retaining my std tie rod at the steering box, and replacing the rest with Heims

Oh yeah x2 . They look the goods and ive been following this fab on other forums for ages. I will be waiting for the fj80 tie rod version and HOPEFLLY only have to buy 1 side. They will sell like hot cakes.... Bring on the panhard mods next...
Ok, I was just laying under the cruiser having a look and im 99.9% certain that if i move the steering arm from behind the diff to the front that it will now hit the panhard mount on the chassis as the suspension cycles. At least I can leave the drag link behind the diff if I want.

Thats right mate. I was concerned about that aswell.
Can these hubs take the factory bottom arms? That will fix your problem mate. Just have to fab the steering linkage to take the heim at the high steer.

Tried it. Wont work. Sump, tie rod hitting tyre and other problems. I have a complete diff sitting in my garage. I started fabing my own high steers based on cranky's modded design. But stopped when I saw these bad boys where coming .
crankycruiser wrote:Just ordered my high steer! First set in oz! Chris was very helpful !
very interested to see how this goes cranky but did you have any luck with being able to run tie rods as opposed to knuckles. with tie rods we can at least paint it all black and make it look factory.
You could always get the arms as blanks and drill, then ream the tapers yourself.
Other than that these new knuckles certainly look the goods.
Might have to get myself some when I build my new diffs

Yes exactly, but the Marks knuckles are not price competitive, these knuckles with more components appear on the face of it more price competitive and would command a much larger market share if they could maintain the better price position and accept close to standard steering geometry.

On a side note. I emailed about just buying the 1 left hand side piece. As I think its stupid to ship over a pair to aus, I take the lefthand side 1 and then sell it back to someone in the states and ship it all the way back. No reply yet, been 3 days.
