^^^^When i switch from my 265/75/r16 desert duellers to my 33 BF Mud terrains i get BETTER ecconomy. Side by side the BF's are probably an inch bigger...the km per tank are the same but when i factor in the larger tyre i'm better off with the muds.

PS: I dont give mine a hard time.....generally dont rev it over 2400 as it doesnt go any better and i'm in no rush.

What i have noticed is when i use my ecutalk is the big difference in fuel used per 100km when i go from 80km/hr to 100km/hr. Goes from about 15 to 23l/100!!!! ALthough i have never sat on 80km/hr long enough to see the gains

yeah good point that could be true, but the amount of fuel it uses has to be more than the tread pattern i think, gas conversions arent cheap :(

The reason it's so thursty is a combination of all things, these are not that economical in factory spec, being auto is a instant minus On econemy to start then add 36 inch trackter tyres and a 7 inch lift and you have one thursty mofo end of story. How much did you get quoted for a LPG system? As mentioned you should be around 2g out of pocket which is chump change compared to what a decent turbo kit would cost do.

I am the owner AND daily DRIVER of a 4.8litre GUIII Patrol. I didnt buy it for its fuel economy but I did factor in conversion to LPG. Six months and nearly 30,000km later, Im very happy with the economy.

I have a set of AT's for daily use on the blacktop and a set of 33 muddies for playing. I notice the difference in the economy over the shorter playing distances whether the engine is using LPG or petrol.

I haul a flatdeck car trailer laden with bricks and timber over the mountains every weekend or two (we're building a house) and I notice the difference in the economy both on the way up (fully laden around 2.5 tonnes) and the way back (just the trailer 750kg).

I notice no difference in whether my baby is using LPG or petrol from a performance point of view - only in how much I lose to the cashier at the petrol station. Very little difference in the LPG price, but 98octane petrol price varies a lot.

I paid nearly $5500 to have the IMPCO injected system installed back in June (with a 75litre aftermarket aux petrol tank) and Mr Rudd gave me back $2000. I guestimate I will have recouped the actual cost of the installation within 12 months. LPG costs vary between 48cpl (lowest/city) to 76cpl (highest/country). Petrol costs vary too much to bother trying to work out! :?

So far I dont have a lift in it and Im not sure that given the other work it does that I really need one. The other half has a very competent and equally thirsty (4.2 petrol GQ) for hard playing.

At the end of the day, its a VERY versatile vehicle - great for 4wding, great for towing, great for highway driving (yes, its an auto and I love cruise control even with the trailer!) but if you're going to worry about how much its costing you every time you get into it, then do something constructive about it.
