hey mate, im running a wideband air/fuel meter and guage so i havent allowed it to get lean enough to ping as im constantly monitoring afr's.

i have been driving it in a safe way and control boost with the throttle so as i dont go over 4psi anything more and it starts to lean out in a bad way.

i havent installed an aftermarket FPR, installing one and raising the base fuel pressure can work, the problem is when you increase the fuel pressure, it increases over the whole range so it will run extremely rich off boost.

according to a tuner from another forum im on, a solution to this is to use a malpassis 1.7:1 FPR, apposed to a 1:1 FPR, what this does is increases fuel pressure 1.7psi to every 1 psi of boost.

at the moment ive unsoldered the factory eprom from the ecu and have installed a socket, which allows me to modify the ecu data, write it to another eprom and put it in the socket.

i still plan to go the nistune board and get the gas running when funds permit.

perhaps ring some tuning shops in qld and ask if they do emulator tuning for nissans.
wow you know a hell of alot more than i do about this. i was thinking of putting a haltech interceptor in to re-tune the motor.... or am i better off going with a stand alone. will that solve all my problems or do i have to look at getting bigger injectors and putting that fuel reg on you suggested? when it comes to mechanics i can do it but computers and electronics i am still a novice.

i really appriciate all the help you can give me.

after doing some WOT (wide open throttle) tuning today, as others have stated the standard injectors max out quickly, PGS 4WD has told me they are only good for around 110kw, so standard injectors definetly do need replacing.

as for the ecu, you could use a haltech interceptor, or you could go with a nistune chip, this chip makes the standard ecu fully programmable. http://www.nistune.com

look in the workshops page and you will proberly find a tuner/workshop close by, mercury motorsport is one of them.

when it comes to ecu tuning etc im still a novice, im definetly no expert, i only know about this after research and looking at different software.

i take it you have a nistune chip, how much did the chip cost to be put in?

currently i dont have one,

im doing the old time consuming method of altering the maps on my laptop, burning it to an eprom, installing it in the ecu and testing, then repeating this process, very time consuming/frustrating.

i plan to get the nistune board when funds permit, as i had to buy a new starter motor today.

all that needs to be done to install the nistune board is,

desolder the factory eeprom, this is quite difficult and frustrating, but i managed to do it.
clean out the holes
fit a socket into the holes
solder the legs into place.

this is usually best left to an electronics repairer or someone with alot of patients and a steady hand.

the nistune board then slots into this socket.

they do offer a fitting service for around $50.

ive now managed to tune my afr's to 11.6 on WOT running 8 psi, i also removed some timing from the timing map, i'll play with timing when i get the funds for dynotime ($50/hr on my mates boss's dyno :D )and the nistune board.

cool, well i'll have to save up the dollars and get that chip put in and get them to tune my car. i'd rather have the standard ecu rather than installing a new one.

thank you very much for your help mate, i'll let you know when i get it done and how it went.

some fuel economy stats.

highway towing a 7x4.5 high sided trailer loaded with furniture 250km/35.5L = 14.2l/100km :D

mixed driving 150km highway empty trailer, 40km around town trailer loaded with rubbish 190km/33.80L = 17.79L/100km :D

Ran the haltech interceptor in my set up with 550 cc injectors ran good but not enough tune ability for the timing in the top end . Have now fitted a Haltech platinum sport 1000 ECU and wiring . Full management is the only way to go for power and reliability
Nup not telling
you'll have to find out yourself
