GOOD question!... I'll see if iI can shed some light on it
Both lights utilise the same reflector and bulb in the same relationship thus output is essentially equal. The reflector is moulded from a different material for 24 volt applications and higher cost with a more complicated globe holder etc all add to build cost.
The XGT features the HID type housing which is the latest design and inherently more robust in extreme situations due to its mounting configuration. The modular mounting block system makes it easier to mount in some situations.
An analogy maybe a bog pov pack commodore vrs a Berlina.
Some might argue it has a greater zexappeal;)

Have you ever seen the difference between the two in front of you? you'd be forgiven for thinking the XGT's hav emore zex appeal
Mounting system is different, housing is different. and more robust in the XGT's.

The best set of lights I have owned was 2 pair of 170 watt sealed beam single filament ones I pulled of a D9 dozer.
The light produced was truly staggering don't know the name they were bright yellow cases tho but then so was the D9 
Cibie's are good value for money.

I`ve had
Hella
180`s = ok
1000`s = mid ok
2000`s = high ok
Narva
around the 180 size = ok
and around the 250 size (don`t know the actaul sizes) = ok
IPF 900`s = very low ok
Light Force
170`s = very bloody good
Used cheezy`s HID`s and man what can I say =
Worst money I have spent was on the IPF`s
Best money I have spent was on the LF 170`s
I wouldn`t even bother wasting my $$$$ on anything other than light force.

if you wanna go that way, Aircraft landing lights are the best.... but gettin hold of them is IMPOSSIBLE...

what about those 5thousand volt gas sealed beams that TJM was selling a while ago.
the cruiser ute i saw them on could light up a 5 acre paddock like stadium australia
they actually take about 20 seconds to warm up too

They most likely run on 28V minimum- not much use in a 4WD....
