dillza_69 wrote:Thanks Turbo shop i will check valve clearances. As for the coolant temp sender i have the original sender giving the input into the ecu as well as supplying the signal to the dash gauge. I wasn't sure if the dash gauge would interfere with the ecu signal
Not sure about that particular motor but some motors have a separate sender for the ECU as opposed to the one that goes to the gauge.
Yeah i looked into that but there is definitely only one coolant temp sender. I think from factory the dash gauge was supplied by the ecu, i have done research and without wiring diagram i cant be sure (too tight to buy manual just to get wiring diagram)
There are 2 coolant temp senders. There's one near the top radiator hose where it goes to the engine which is the one for the dash gauge, and there is one at the back of the head (prick to get to) which is for the ecu. The one for the ecu should be all plugged in with the engine loom and goes straight to the ecu plug.
As for misfiring at idle, mine does this when at operating temp when on petrol, but doesn't do it on lpg, so I think my problem is actually dirty injectors. I don't think mine's anything else to do with fuel probs or maf as its been remapped with a piggyback ecu and the tuner said the fuel ratio's are all fine, but a dirty injector can cause misfiring while still showing good afr's. But thats another story...
As for your's, I really don't know. When I did my conversion I had all sorts of problems with it running rough and crap when I had the maf sensor stuck into a piece of intake hose, and even when i had a custom inlet tube made up with a custom mount for the maf sensor it was still a little rough. It only came completely good when I bought a stock 3rz air box and hacked the maf mount off and mounted this properly into my inlet track. Not sure how your maf is mounted but it looks like you've just drilled a hole in the rubber/plastic inlet tube and stuck it in... I could be wrong but might be something to look at... With efi, one sensor not reading correctly can cause all sorts of crap!!
There ya go, learn something new every day. All the research i did i could only find reference to the front sender.
I have just had my injectors tested and they came back fine so its not injectors for me. As for the MAF, mine is custom mounted but it was mounted to the same depth and in the same diameter intake pipe, really the only difference between mine and factory is my intake is steel and factory is plastic.

hmm thanks turboshop will have to look into it. i didnt use a filter box from 3rz because all the wreckers i called didnt have any and genuine was about $780.

3RZ-FE Wiring
You will need 2 – 30amp Relays & alot of spare wires of different colours.
Relay 1 – Fuel pump
Relay 2 - EFI
Harness that plugs in your computer with the following clours- green/yellow stripe, blue/red stripe, yellow, pink/black stripe etc, cut all wires to give you room to join.
• green/yellow stripe to Fuel pump relay Positive
• blue/red stripe to EFI relay Positive
• yellow to battery Positive
• pink/black stripe to start trigger
EFI relay – feed wire splices into large black/yellow stripe wire under steering wheel.
Spare large harness near computer harness
Cut brown, yellow/red stripe, red/blue stripe, black/red stripe.
• red/blue stripe joins black/red stripe then joins EFI relay Positive with the above blue/red stripe mentioned before.
• yellow/red stripe joins yellow/green stripe under drivers side kick panel near fuse box. (Temp Guage)
• Brown goes to Earth
Engine Bay near Battery
• Large white wire to Battery Positive
• Large black/blue stripe to Battery Positive
• Large black/grey stripe to Battery Negative
Harness near Battery
• Red/blue stripe joins with white then joins to EFI positive with other wires mentioned before.
• Slightly larger black/white stripe I think goes to starter wire from fuse box in engine bay. I think this wire was the trigger wire to the old starter motor.
this is a wiring diagram i got from willhilux in this he says to plug yellow/red stripe from computer to temp gauge. i tryed this but it didnt work. hence the new temp gauge. does anyone know if this is supposed to be plugged into anything? it doesnt go to temp sender or anything like that does it. like mentiond before it is like its stuck on cold start map. like the computer doesnt know it has warmed up? booked in for next week any way will let yas know. thanks for your help.
