OIIIIIIIO "8" rims will be great but don't go any bigger you will roll your beads off if you intend to lower your pressure like you say."

Migh seem like a silly question, but why is this so? i understand that there's less pulling 'in' of the sidewall to the rim on a 10" rim as opposed to an 8" rim, is this why the bead tends to roll off - because the sidewall and therefore bead) is effectively more towards 90 deg on a 10" rim but closer to 45 deg with an 8" rim?

the reason i ask is because i have a number of sets of 8" rims but have just recently bought 2 sets of alloy 10's (1 set for each car) and wanted to use 10" steelies for play tyres. 10" rims look tough as guts...does practicality say though i should use 8" rims for a 33/35x12.5" tyre instead??
i also would tend to go off the recommendation for rim width on the tyre (that being 10.5" wide rims for 12.5" wide tyres for example).

DUDELUX wrote:Hey, Ive just bought a set of 33x12.5x15 Swampers, now Im after some rims for them to live on.
Im definately after steel, and 15x8.
They will be going on a LN65, 1986 solid axle hilux, for off road use only.
Im thinking either sunnys, Ive used sunnys for a while and am happy with them, but just wanted opinions on what else is around, Ive also looked at the ProComp Rockcrawler rims. There is also some called Daytona??
When looking at the Rockcrawler rims, I noticed that they come in either -19 or -50 offset. I think I need -22 which is cruiser/hilux offset.

Will the -19 offset be ok??
What other rims are around that are ok for offroad??
What are the prices I can expect to pay for them??

Thankyou for the help.

I did a search and read through roughly 40odd pages dating back to sept last year.
I ran 33x12.5x15 Swampers on ROH -23 "sunnys" and never debeaded running as low as 10psi on a GQwagon (great rim tyre combo) Then ran 36s on same rims. I remember reading an artical in a Petersens 4wd mag and certain rims dont work as good on certain tyres. Found it to be very valid in a comparo they did! This worked for me so hope it helps
