Yeah Ive studied Yamahas build thread for advice and ideas on lots of things.
Im not planning on going disc rear, just getting larger drums fom a later model IFS lux.
Ive made some phone calls to different places, including brake specialists, wreckers, mechanics and I spoke to Hi-Tech 4x4 thats done the conversion to a few luxs.
Ive found out that up to 95 was no abs, disc front and drum rear, and they had the 4bolt type.
After 95 they changed to disc front and rear, had abs and the 2bolt type.
And Im told the master/booster just bolts straight in to my lux.

Now Im just going to start collecting bits.

Thanks

Hi just wondering how much of an advantage would a 4runner/surf booster make and would a 90 4runner have the larger rear drums. reason i am asking is i will be parting out a ifs 4runner soon and if i can swap those parts i will use them. or just sell them to make some cash back.

I have heard that most model IFS lux/4runners have the larger rear drums. I dont know what models have larger and what has smaller. But what Ive read and heard a few places, the solid axle luxes/4runners have smaller drums.
I cant guarantee that thogu, so best to measure your drum diameter against other models to be sure.

i know its a little bit more work but if your gonna change it would be better in the long run to disk brake in the rear. you can get it fully mod plated and legal and if your already changing the booster its not too much more work. and you'll still have problems with the whole drums full of mud every time you go mud hacking if you get bigger drums. a guy sells the disc mounting bracket for $50 on here delivered cheap as chips
