Plenty of evidence suggesting otherwise. Even a GT2560 is fine on a 1HZ.

You can have some 'guru' talk you ear off with bullshit till the cows come home mate... But nothing is better than real world experience/evidence.

The GT28 on my 1hz gives 25 psi from 2300-5000+ i believe that is well within the rev range of a 1hz...

There is no such thing as a gt28 turbo

The GT28 is a series of turbos, 100's of different combinations.

No idea what the ricers Gt28's are but mine is a Gt2876r with a .64 exhaust A/R

Most ricers with around 2 litre engines would be using GT2860's. The last two numbers (60) is the compressor wheel size in millimetres. The most sought after GT2860 by ricers is the disco potato, the GT2860RS. It is a turbo made for fast reponse on a petrol engine with very hot exhaust, hence the 0.86 A/R turbine housing, it is also designed for low boost (12psi sort of thing max) as map width vs map height is a compromise.

The disco potato is not well suited to a diesel engine. But other GT28 series turbos are.

What are your goals?
High end Power?
Low end Torque?
Fitting an intercooler?
Auto or manual?

i dont want a kit, i just want the turbo, all the rest will come later... i just want to start mocking the turbo setup so once i have everything all i need to do is bolt it all up, but as for power i just want something to get me from a - b with a bit of extra grunt and also the added hp for 4wding... only like 10psi boost, just small increase over standard. its a slow build so yeah.

3" pipe from the air box to the turbo and from the turbo to the inlet manifold. They suit a 1hz with a T28 turbo using a http://advancedhbintercoolers.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; turbo adaptor on a standard exhaust manifold.
