Its IN EX IN EX....
but theres more to it then I thought, I cant just set them all in one go unfortunately, apparently its a 2 stage process that also involves turning the crank. This is for engine hot, i cant get my engine hot so do I still use this process?

Add 0.1mm to your hot setting and that should be sufficient to get it going and then set them properly when at operating temp.

My POS crank pulley doesnt have a TDC mark. I cant gap the lifters, I turned the crank so that cylinder 1 was open IN + EX and did the rest like the manaul but it was no good.
A bloke I was talking to said he used to just turn the crank till cylinder 1 was open on both valves, gap it then repeat the process down the firing order.
Today Ive been spinning that crank like an idiot trying to figure out the firing order but too much is moving and its doing my head in.
Anyone know the firing order so I can start at 1 and then jump to the right one next?

Firing order is 1.4.2.6.3.5.... the clearances should be set with the valves closed (the valves should be up/closed... the push rods should be down)... from what you've written it seems you're trying it with the valves open...

Thanks for that. I'll try see if knowing the order helps me figure out when to set the valves. I'm not full bottle on what happens inside the engine but I have been setting them valves up rods down, I'm just not using the right terminology.

You are setting the gaps under the tips of the rockers where they contact the valves right? Best thing I can suggest to do is work out which pairs of valves correspond with each cylinder (that's the easy bit), and when one of each pair is pushing down, set the other one (ie. when the exhaust valve is fully opened on one cylinder the intake valve on the same cylinder will be shut and vice versa). You should be able to do a few at the same time before turning the engine but mark the ones you have set BEFORE you rotate it.

#1 to TDC do this by getting valves on # 6 rocking one open one closing. Then adjust In - Ex on #1, Ex #2 #4 and In #3 #5. Rotate engine 360d until # 1 valves are rocking. Adjust In #2, #4 #6 and Ex #3 #5 #6 readjust when warm. As per the gregorys manual hope this helps
