Sorry, I think you are confused - I was referring to an SD33T - Not a TD42T (silver or black top)
Some guys have had problems with teh SD33T breaking cranks. SD33T stock turbos really heat up the oil which I think contributes to it breaking down. If too thinner oil is used it isnt providing enough protection when the oil gets hot.
I run a GT2860RS on my SD and we will see if this extra boost and power will snap my crank. Been 50,000km @ 14psi so far, 35k with stock turbo and 10 @ 20psi with GT and now 5000ks at 15psi and 100rwkw.

lol iv been running 25 - 30 psi for 2 years now started at 20 psi 6 years ago on a motor with that had 300 odd k's onit now got 570 odd and still hauling it these things and rock solid as long as you service it me every 5000 with good oil
You would't be pushing more than 75rwkw though....
What oil do you use?
stock turbo?

I've seen a broken TD42 crank, blokes were investigating a bottom end knock, undoing caps, part of the crank dropped to the ground.

My bad I was still on td42..

Unless you mod the compensator spring, 75rwkw is all you will get.

If the max power of 134hp is at 4000rpm then you're producing 236 Nm there. The graph shows 600 at that point.
But if you can work out the rpm you can get it more accurate than that.
The graph shows 600 LB not sure what that is in Nm's

The 600 ft-lb (813Nm) is wrong, we need the rpm to work out what it should actually be.

1988 safari, denco switzer? highflowed turbo on denco top mount manifold, somewhat modified fuel pump, front mount intercooler. 3in dump pipe and exaust, with a standard air filter. 220 rear wheel hp and 1360 foot pound torque. this setup is running about 24psi boost with the turbo boosting up from about 1800 revs and peaks around 2400 revs with it dropping down to about 170 hp by 3700 revs. (the power to revs figures are rough figures) I've recently put in a large donldson air filter but have not got it retuned yet....

More numbers required... actual turbo designation (there should be a tag on it and also possibly a/r numbers on the body.. include all the numbers you have )... what gear.... what tyre size.... what diff ratio..... and do you have a printout from the dyno to post up....

Your torque figures are wrong, your rpm at peak power also sounds wrong but your peak figures could be right. Got a dyno chart?

well diesel is not the only fuel that is going in the motor so the spring in the pump is not a issue

what is the egt temp with this much power?

the exaust temp was getting up to 550degwith the standard air filter but with the big air filter it hasn't got much above 450deg, you've just got to keep an eye on the water temp as I still have a standard radiator. I had an dyno printout about 3 years ago but... as for the torque figures being wrong- that is what the dyno sheet read. the dyno run was on 33in muddies with 4.1 diff ratios. i'll post a dyno sheet when i get it retuned after I fit a bigger radiator.

What gearbox gear... 3rd ....4th... ?

4th gear, it's the only gear I've ever seen a power run in.

The dyno operator got the gear ratio wrong. It's a pretty common mistake which means the overall shape of your torque curve is still right, but the numbers are wrong.
You can scale it back to what it should be if you can match engine rpm to a few points on the graph.

ok, not sure on the details, but i've asked the preveious owner for the dyno readout, all I know is that I leave my mates turbo diesel gq, gu, and multivalve cruisers for dead, and it tows pretty easily. = lots of fun

td42, 3" exhaust, high mount turbo(turbo glide), tuned 13psi = 132hp at the
rear on 33's......
very happy.

I think the torque figure that is being questioned may actually be lbs of motive force which is on the side of a dyno dynamics dyno graph, while this is torque it is not ft/lbs of torque. It is lbs of motive force applied to the rollers.

Motive force is force, not torque. The main difference is force is in a straight line, torque is about rotation.
